Get the fork removed, strip that nasty green paint and cut the legs in half.

Mix in 3 ft of 1-3/8"x0.058" 4130 by adding it in 18" segments.

Then add a rear old school job, with coaster brake.

Weld the fork at 2000-2200 def F. Extend seatpost way past the "MIN" line for knee clearance, and sprinkle other ghetto parts to taste. Pump up tires.

Yep it is. I finished it last night and went lurking around the neighborhood on it at 11. 1 hour to strip the paint off and grind the forks, and 4 hours of construction/assembly.

"Chicago?" Well, all I know is, it's a blast to ride and that's the whole point.

So Jay, if we pull this near-Hallow's Eve cruze together, I'll bring this ride.

some guys in my old neighborhood would probably pay a lot of money for one of those... even more if it was chrome, or gold plated.

wait. nevermind. they wouldn't actually pay a lot of money for it... but they'd still love to have it. stay away from riverside, mang.

    Thanks guys.

I prepped the new fork and painted it glossy black, and the frame is in the process of getting stripped to the underlying chrome. It's looking sharp.

    ~ fin ~

The forks may eventually get a flame job up about half their length, but that'll bump up the already exorbitant $26 I've spent on this thing by about another $10. But a springer seat is needed to finish this off.

And Weaver, the chicago bars is the only position that is comfortable....

    Non-tapered BMX forks, right?

You do realize that the forks could snap at anytime and impale you while cruising?

If you want to do this, I'll only charge the cost of materials: 3 ft. of chromoly in typical fork sizes costs about $15 including shipping. It takes about an hour to cut + weld.

I am about to order more tubing to finish another bike project, and if I don't already have tubing to fit your fork, I'll have to order it.

Measure the diameter of one fork leg either by measuring the diameter at the end of the leg near the dropout, or wrap a string around a leg and measure that length. Most BMX legs seem to be 1.25" (or string length just under 4 inches).
