    Closest DH/FR to Austin?

I'm clueless about the Central Texas Downhill / Freeride scene but I go on trips every year or so for some good free-riding and full-on downhill.

I'm just returning from a great 4 days and I've decided I need to seek it out locally...

    What's the story?

    unless you know what?

There has to be something that requires something bigger than an air-shock...

slim pickings - closest lifts are angel fire/parijito. there is some stuff at roughrider canyon el paso. of course colorado with keystone, wp, sol vista, vail. closest shuttable that we have ridden is clayton ok, poteau ok, devils den ar, cass ar, eurka springs ar. tulsa boys have a trail at chandler park and turkey mtn that has seen recent building. we have big cedar in dallas but it is 2 short runs that are only a minute, fun to ride though. there are a couple session areas in austin and the old short comfort course you could probably still hit.

We JUST closed FREERIDE512 at Twin Parks on Dec. 31. Here's a link to some stuff, to give you an idea: Trails.

Well, all that stuff has been pulled and relocated. As soon as the ground gets a little less wet, we'll be walking lines and breaking ground on all new stuff from beginner to double-black/pro. Hit us up at FREERIDE512@mail.com if you're interested in participating.

In the meantime, there's plenty of lines around town you can scope. Nothing long, but surely fun.

In February (President's Day weekend), we'll be heading out to RoughRider Canyon in El Paso (link: Roughrider Freeride and Downhill Mountain Biking - Home). Although they usually do a big fest every February, their shuttle road is in rough shape for the trailer, but they'll host us guys from Austin on 4x4s for shuttling.

Shoot us an email if ya want to know more.

    Later!

Check out the lines behind Toys R Us, it'll get your blood pumping, but nothing like what the guys at Twin Parks had
