Return of the Monday Night Mission Trail Ride!

It's getting to be that time of year, so once again, I'll be resurrecting the Monday Night Mission Trail ride.

This year, we'll be meeting at Blue Star Brewery at 6:30 for a 6:45 roll-out. The 2005 innaugural ride will be on April 11.

As always, the pace will be as fast as the slowest rider who shows up. Distance is roughly 18 miles, out to Mission Espada and back, but feel free to turn back at any point for a shorter ride. If you want something longer, I can provide directions to give you up to a 35 mile loop.

And as an added bonus, Blue Star Brewery, along with it's new venture, Blue Star Bike Tours and Rentals*, will be providing food and drink specials for all cyclists after the ride.

    * (sorry Sandy, shameless bike shop plug here)
Did you know that in addition to rentals, Blue Star Brewery is now an official distributor for Electra Bikes?!? You may have seen Dan's Rat Fink bike, but if not, I gotta say, their cruiser bikes are some of the funnest bikes Ive seen in some time! Check them out in person 1414 S. Alamo St. Blue Star even has a fairly well stocked bike shop upstairs, complete with parts, clothing, helmets, and accessories for their sole line of bikes! Their operations are still a bit rough as they iron things out, but I was pleasantly surprised, if not outright impressed to see the direction they've taken with their rental fleet.

Rode the mission trails today after work..... there is a little bit of construction by the first mission just before we get to the river, which requires us to dismount our bikes they installed a barrier of concrete but other than that its good to go ......

If all goes well (i.e. no flats or mechanicals or excessively slow riders), lights shouldn't be needed. But I always bring mine just in case. If it does get dark though, we should be well on our way back.

I'd hate to rain on your parade...

    /bump

Weather permitting... I hope to ride this evening. Do note that tonight is also the Fiesta River Parade so driving through downtown will be crazy. Those interesting might want to consider coming down Ih 35/Ih 10 or Ih 37 and over to Hwy 90 (Ih 10), exiting at Probandt to come in from the south.

Feel free to call me at three t0 flve 0h t0o slx flve for an update or if you're planning to come but are delayed.

Game called on the account of rain.

I've got fairly consistent sprinkly rain here on the southside. No fun to ride in it as it just makes for VERY slippery roads (enough to keep the roads wet, not enough to wash off the oils and such).

    Is this on today?

I sent a co-worker to look at the Monday night Mission thread on STORM.
She said that she thought according to the last post that the ride might be cancelled.

Then I noticed that the last post was June 28, 2004
