No, you aren't required to purchase a Bike Mojo jersey to ride with the team. Heck, you're not even required to register with Bike Mojo to ride with the team (though it would be helpful for planning purposes).

As for the "required ID bracelet" I am not sure what that's about. I think they issue you a wristband for the ride to keep track of who's officially participating in the "Recommended Ride" but there shouldn't be a cost for it (else the ride wouldn't be free!).

I will find out more details just to be sure.

26-Mile Recommended Ride is June 18 in Helotes

    /bump

Just a reminder to those interested. The 26-mile Recommended Ride will be this Saturday, June 18, starting and ending in Helotes, Texas. It's a relatively short ride, but one stretch of the route on Highway 211 is a continuous, 7-mile-long hill. The ride starts at 7 a.m. Saturday in front of Roger Soler's Sports Shop.

Also, for those that haven't yet registered for the MS150 in October, if you do so at this ride, you will be given the $25 early-bird registration rate.

This sounds like it's the same route as the regular Helotes ride. That long hill on 211 makes me wish I had a triple chain ring up front.
I'm wondering if there will be different paced groups in this ride, I couldn't keep up with the fast boys especially on that hill.

Just how bad is that hill? I was thinking about going and taking my son but he gets kind of heavy in that trailer. I'm a hill slug as it is but pulling another 40+ pounds really drags me down.

Are you going to pull me up that hill if the trailer is too heavy?

I may go. If I do I will probably stand out with my BikeMojo jersey and a 19 month old kid in a trailer.

I'm planning on going as well. Cody, I might have to ride along side you if I decide to bring the music trailer. If so, we'll be easy to spot: two mojo jersey wearing fools pulling trailers!

More from the MS Society about the ride:

    The route:
    Start: Old Bandera Road
    Right turn to Riggs Road
    Right turn to FM 1560
    Right turn to Galm Road
Right turn to Culebra (Highway 471)
    Right turn to Highway 211
Right turn to Bandera Road (Highway 16)
Right turn to Old Bander Road and Finish Line

Breakpoint One is near the Exxon before the turn onto Highway 211. Breakpoint Two is located just after the right turn onto Bandera Road.

Official Bike Store representatives, SAG services and medical personnel will be set up at breakpoints. HAM radio operators will also be along the route and at breakpoints.

Regarding Hwy 211, I'm glad I have my 'fat man' triple. Especially if I decide to pull the music trailer.

My hats off to both of you if you can ride 211 with trailers. Those hills are hard enough just your own!

    OK George,

Looks like I'll be there with the little one in tow. Just as long as I can drag my lazy butt out of bed at 5:00 to get there on time. Looks like I won't be wearing the Mojo jersey, though. They're going to let me count this as a training ride for the ride marshals even though I have the trailer so I'll be wearing a bright red ride marshal jersey.

    See you in the morning.

Good deal and fair enough, Cody. But if you're not wearing the Mojo colors, I'm not bringing the music trailer. (OK, truth is, I was looking for a reason to weasel out of towing it, if only because I'm going to have a LATE night tonight and it will be hell enough to just wake up and do the ride period, much less doing it whilst towing the trailer). But who knows, I'll have it in the car and if tomorrow morning I feel like pulling it, I'l pull it.

Yo, Ruben! I have nothing to do with the HHH other than being a rider for the last couple of years. But yep, at least Nick and I will be heading up again this year. Who knows who else will be with us. It's too early to say. If you're up for doing it again, you know you're welcome to hook up with us. Also, PM your e-mail addy and I'll e-mail you a .pdf of this year's Shiner BASH route.

That's what I meant to say. I don't know yet, I'm going to be using up alot of vacation over the next month, and then again in October. So I might have to leave the HHH out this year. Sucks, but I might have to do it. Check your PM box here in a minute. Thanks!

Damn, missed it. At 5:00am this morning I was screwed up, I took some meds too late at night. I was planning on riding behind George.

Drove by on my way to work. Drove up bandera rd to loop 211 and saw an guy with an aggie jersey attacking that hill from 211 to bandera. There must have been at least 80+ riders I saw. I should have done this and come in later to work.
