MS 150, bike to the beach, who's doing it?

I'm going to finally bite the pillow, er, bullet and do one of these. Just for the experience and because I saw how much fun Erica had when she did the Team In Training for the Shiner Bash this year. Who's eyeballing doing this?

    good hearing from ya, tx.

eyeballing? that would prolly be most of us who did it because it was so much fun...but too early to say.

George should be organizing again this year.

Hopefully it doesn't rain this time.

Raider wins the award for posting the first 2005 MS150 Team Bike Mojo post!

Yes folks, once again, we'll be riding the MS150 Bike to the Beach as Team Bike Mojo. While we'll be sorely missing the services of Dan, Dan, the BBQ Man, we're going to do our best to make sure his protegé is well trained and capable.

I encourage all potential team members to take advantage of the special $25 early-bird registration rate, which will last through Tuesday, May 31.

On Wednesday, June 1, the registration fee will rise to $40 and will be $50 on the day of the event.

    Go HERE for Online Registration

To sign on with Team Bike Mojo, just enter "Team Bike Mojo" as team name and "George Longoria" as team captain. E-mail me to let me know when you have registered so that I know to look for your name on the official roster.

More details will be coming as they develop, but as always, this is everyone's team here so feel free to contribute however you can.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be with Team Bike Mojo this year. I'm going to be the captain of Team Grande. I do plan on stopping by to check on the Mojos though. We probably won't have a very big team but hopefully we will be out there. I need to get at least 25 people to make the minimum on the jersey order. I'm also working on getting sponsors like for beer and food and especially beer. So George, any contacts would be appreciated. Plenty of room on the jerseys for sponsor logos.

    See everyone then.

Good deal! Best of luck with your team, but do know that you don't have to let your duties there keep you from riding with us. We had quite a few riders register with other teams for personal/professional reasons but still hang out in camp. All are welcome.

As for sponsors and such, we really kept it all to a minimum and the only solid contacts I have are with people who were members of the team. Otherwise, I personally underwrote most of what the modest team fee didn't cover. I don't know if I'll be in a position to do that again this year as I will have changed job/careers by then. But am already laying the groundwork for a fun and successful ride in '05.

Let me know what I can do to help with the organization. And as for the personal underwriting, we should work on eliminating that. 10 or 20 bucks per person would go a long way.

The past two years have been a blast... Bigger and better. The piece de resistance last year occured while stitting under the bridge in Corpus, drinking beer. The Houston-Austin MS150 organizer found us to personally invite us to their event (declined due to the fact it was the same weekend as the Comfort race). She tracked us down and pointed out that we had the largest non-corporate team. 60+ riders.

Dan will sorely be missed this year. But he sure went out with a bang! 2004 Bike to the Beach will definitely go down in the record books.

On that note I may have a line on a bbq trailer... (read: I know where one is)

I'm with aLaN on the money shortage, george. I was a little suspicious when I saw the added goodies that were provided, and thought about the low fee you charged. Thanks, but after forking over 200 to ride, what's another 20 bucks?

Just a thought, don't shoot me, but if we can't get someone to step up and do the cooking, we could order out a slew of Chinese food....noodles for carb loading.

The breakfast they provided was pretty good.

October 1st and 2nd, but the team Bike Mojo is such a production that we need a good 4 month head start in the planning.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I've been out of town all weekend.

Yes, as with last year, sign up for the bus and bike transportation back to San Antonio from Corpus (unless you provide alternate transportation back home on your own). Similarly, we'll turn the bus ride back into a rolling party back to SA.
