It must suck to be you.
You know you are from SA when your parents would send you on Wednesday nites to Self's hamburgers on Austin Hwy, for their 10 burgers for a $1 special.
Then when you got older, you would cruise the Frontier Drive-Ins on Austin Hwy and Broadway.
And in the summer time, you would sneak into the El Antonio at night for a swim.
And, if you didn't have a driver's license, you would ride your bike to school, and on the weekends for fun, ride to Northeast Preserve and ride the paved trails, and occasionally, to Stinky Falls for a short swim before heading back hom.
he was on a tricycle when I went to school. he couldnt reach the pedals of the patrol car.Originally Posted by fishergirl

CENTENO'S!!! I used go to church at the Iglesia de Cristo on commercial where it turns into the I35 access road. BIG RED MEXICAN BREAKFAST! Blanco cafe for BR and migas, for me.
back to the subject...
-you vote down every progressive propostion like light rail, PGA, surface water, FUQING CHLORIDE IN THE DRINKING WATER, etc... because the "other" side of town will benefit and change is BAD.
-despite voting against light rail you vote to pay more taxes for stadium because the spurs are threatening to leave unless you do so.
-you don't think it's wierd when your waitress yells DAME DOS into a little slot of a window to the tia in the back rolling tortillas by hand.
-you and everyone in your family swears by the University of Texas despite the fact that your primo Cuco is the only one that even graduated high school.
-you cruised military.
-you're 14 and your mom is only 28.
-you know where all the "courts" are.
-you claim to be catholic but the only evidence is the way you make the sign of the cross when you pass by a church and the fact that your family camps at Brack for a week to get the best spot for Easter.
-you have a favorite curandero.
-you've had an egg or lemon rubbed on you to cure the "ojo".
-you've driven to calaveras lake to look for "la llorona".
-you've gotten drunk at the strawberry festival.
-you've shopped for chanclas at the morsund flea market.
-you can't pay your CPS bill but you just got your hair perm'ed for $300.
-you remember that time-warner used to be rogers before they were all chingon.
-Parking at Sears on a Sat night until the cops ran u out, then head to Fun City Toys until they ran u out, then head to K-Mart......
-Running quickly to your mom's car in the parking lot, for fear that someone would recognize you at La feria's
-Cruising down Zarzamora to the Chinese Graveyard, where we all know someone that supposedly dug up a chinaman
oh sorry, Asian American

-you need an alarm from mothers because your car sound system is worth more than your car. (corrollary to fishergirls subwoofer entry)
-the first place your new/used car goes is to the tint place.
Wasn't Time Warner also Columbia Cable at some point too?
Centenos and their Cookie Jar Stamps
Speaking of stamps, 'member the Shamrock gas stamps?
La Feria y Solo Serve.... reminds me of wearing Tuff Skins jeans bought at Sears.
KTSA radio... Sony Rio, are you talkin' to me? Logan Stuart "Hola todos mis amigos" y "el dicho"
We still call St. Joseph's Church at Rivercenter Mall St. Joskes
que más...
You stayed home to catch your Tio Jaime interviewed by Mario Bosquez or Peggy Kokernaut on PM Magazine
You ever busted a grove on TV's "Jammin' " (c'mon Sandy, you know you did!)
You bought your first Sony Walkman from Frisco Electronics
You ever stopped to listen to Bongo Joe downtown.
Fiesta:
La Semana Alegra kept NIOSA all safe for the gringos.
You remember the crazy gringo who opened up shop from his RV. And by opened up shop, I mean with a sniper rifle.
You know that Elmer Caddo isn't some dude's name, but what the gringos call Market Square
Not quite fiesta, but almost:
You ever rode a piece of cardboard down the hill slopes at the Folk Life Festival

Wasn't the Chinese graveyard by the haunted ghost tracks, down by Mission Espada? I can't think of anything off Zarzamora (which now looks nothing like it did before since Toyota has come in).Originally Posted by bugger
Las Palmas...still around. They filmed Captain Gus (and Mortimer) episodes there.
That also reminds me of Kiddie City at Wonderland Mall (no Crossroads here, buck-o) another site used in the show.
Speaking of the good Captain, "All aboard the Good Ship Amigus", "Ba-Ding-Ding!" "Do the do and the whole McClue." I recall reading a blurb in the paper a couple of months back about Mortimer. He had suffered a heart attack or something and now works as the public info officer for a school district here.
You ever went to watch wrestling at "Joe and Harry and your mamma's place."
You bought your first suit at Frost Brothers (unless it was a zoot suit, then you went to Penners. Ditto on the tangerine Stacy Adams).

-first roller coaster ride was at playland park on broadway.
-you admired Ivan Pustsky and you cheered for the von erics but still liked kamala and kabuki somehow (reference to georges wrestling at Joe and Harry Freemans).
-you actually know what kabuki used to spray to temporarily disable his opponents!

I also miss GW JUNIORS, not as good as Little Hipps, but on a college student's budget you couldn't beat their greasy burgers.
Anybody ever eat at Great Gadsby's sandwich shop on Main(rip)? The hippie owners made a great roastbeef sandwich.
your mission in life was to swim to the lighthouse in woodlawn lake.
you remember when Hildebrand was the northside.
you remember when 5 points was an upscale business area.
