You remember riding 700 Acres when it was in fact, seven hundred acres.
1st mtb was a Diamondback Acent EX (black with 80's style pink paint slatters) from Jeff Lindsay at Bike Barn on bandera.

rode the early 90's on this bike at 700 acres on BOTH sides of military often seeing this crazed, scantily clad, wicked fast man-of-the-woods out on his own diamondback.

Would that be Logan Stewart, also a Rey Feo? Remember Nick St. John, Bruce Hathaway, Ricci Ware?

After listening to AM radio for years, usually KTSA or KONO, in 1968, a new idea, stereo radio on FM came to town. Remember KEXL? Their first studio was located in the Menger Hotel looking out on Alamo Plaza where you could watch the disc jockey through the window. That was where I first started my involvement with radio broadcasting.

Ah, the Teen Canteen. Across from Blossum Stadium which was fairly new at the time.

We did a couple of (educational) field trips there while in jr. high. The rides, which were supposed to be off limits, took up most of our time. The monorail was badass --- when it worked.
    Got Sporks???

Don't give me any crap on the trail! I can find my own, thank you.

Rode the monorail and watch those Indians swing from the tall pole. Can't remember their names...something Aztecs?
Do you want answers? I want the truth! You can't handle the truth!

...I'm not going to put you into a woodchipper. The rhetoric on this board is overblown. You're not a child killer or a mercenary.

Can we get past this please? I have never molested any child nor have you murdered one. I apologize for maligning your mother. Even though I cannot remember it, I apologize for it.

Yes, I remember the 10 meter board Alamo Heights swimming pool. I remember we would always have trouble getting in, because one of my sisters has a darker complextion than the rest of us, so the gate attendant wouldn't always turn us away because they thought she was Mexican. So we would go around the corner and climb over the wall to sneak in. Later they got smart and put broken glass in the concrete on top of the wall, but we would just throw our towel over the glass and climb in anyway. Once inside we would always run around pretending to speak spanish to one another just to piss them off.

I remember jumping off the 10 meter board and being scared to death because the pool looked so small from up there.

Remember the dent in the sidwalk with the big blood stain between the big pool and diving pool?
Rumor had it, that someone dove off the 10 meter and overshot the pool and hit the sidewalk.

Is it bad if one car payment is more than your rent, or just bad if both car payments are more than your rent? Ford Credit loved me for 2-3 years...

Ah, one is paid off and the other's been sold (it's now famous among the Mojo camps), but I did replace the first one's payment with a smaller payment now.

You can remember driving out on the "Death Loop" (1604) and there was nothing out there except the cactus, bluebonnets in the spring and roadrunners (not the UTSA variety).

Hi, guys...just found this forum and it took me way back in the day...Here are some of my memories:

The Varsity Drive In on Culebra @ 24th street, plus MR. Pizza...across the street was Jim's Frontier, where we would hang out after the football games...

Fargo's pizza on Culebra and Callahan (excellent!)

Back when Johnny Ringo's was at 5 points, and across the streets was the Big Boy drive in hamburger joint

The awesome Joske's Fantasy land where you could buy a token and ask Santa for what you wanted, and it would come sliding down a small slide (plastic roller skates allowed me to break my wrist...LOL)

Ringo's Beanburgers on West Avenue (gone, but not forgotten)

When there was only ONE Taco Cabana (San Pedro and Hildebrand) where we would go get tacos after the clubs closed...

"Claude Morgan and the Blast" (attitude check!)

Sadly, the Mission Drive in is now closed, never to re-open again (news in the last month or so)

The Dollar Wave shop @ Las Palmas

    RIP, Bongo Joe

The Friday night horror show (Project Terror)

Sneaking in to the discos at 16 & drinking Pina Coladas (Last National Bank, etc)

    Yes, Randy's Rodeo still exists

Skipping school to go watch "The Exorcist" at the Aztec

Watching the top of the Tower of the Americas being raised from the school balcony

Seing KISS at La Semana (after it moved to the coliseum grounds)

The Paul Elizondo band playing at almost every high school function

I still TOTALLY believe in the railroad crossing at Espada Park

Yes, the Texas Star Inn across the road from KKYX out in the middle of a field

Listening to Lisle and Hahn religiously

When you were lucky enough to get an electric typewriter in typing class (WAAAYYY before computers)

Having DJ Charlie Brown at your high school picnic as a special guest

Not having to worry about gangs

    Kangaroo Court on the riverwalk

Detention in school rather than being sent to an "alternative school"

My first job was at Montgomery Ward at Wonderland

Waffle house on Fredericksburg rd. @ Wonderland dr. (Crossroads)

Talking to the clown head @ Jack in the Box

I'll post more again when my memory returns......

Remembered one of my favorites....Shopping at the downtown Sears (now the library) for school clothes, and also smelling the freshly popped corn and chocolate covered nuts.....
