Your thread seems to be the most active thread on Mojo, ever.

But one thing that you will begin to notice on Mojo is that if a thread has more than 1/2 dozen replys the subject of the thread has usually evolved on to something else. But I do agree that I think that it has had some therapeutic value.

Do you want answers? I want the truth! You can't handle the truth!

...I'm not going to put you into a woodchipper. The rhetoric on this board is overblown. You're not a child killer or a mercenary.

Can we get past this please? I have never molested any child nor have you murdered one. I apologize for maligning your mother. Even though I cannot remember it, I apologize for it.

Carlos, What if the person who killed your loved one in the course of their assinine actions were still at large threatening the rest of your loved ones. Would you accept that? You seem to describe existence on this earth as something horrible and worthy of nuclear anhialation. Some of us have enjoy this life and our society even with it's faults and choose to fight for the right to live our lives. I'm sorry you think existing here suck so bad. I certainly hope you re-evaluate things soon.

Nader requires an open mind? Hardly..... What If???? I prefer logical thought and realism in times like these. Gas prices would fall because nobody would have money to buy gas. If our society were to shut down for a week (that would happen without fuel) our economy would take a nose dive and the most horrible event you could think of may happen....Litespeed might have to close its doors for business. Then this whole place might be worthy of a fission reaction.

I can honestly say that I would not have raised prices at a time like this. As for paying me off to do something unethical, well I'm human and not perfect, but the odds are against it. I would not rais prices for gas, etc. for one it's not right, and hopefuly there are people that feel the same way I do and will not purchase any thing at the establishments that would take advantage of their fellow Americans.

Not in my neck of the woods!!! I left for work tuesday morning with less than a quarter tank of gas in the truck and wanted to fill up on the way, but I was running late. Gas prices at Shamrock, Exxon, Texaco, and Chevron stations were between $1.219 and $1.239.

Driving home at 5:00 p.m. I observed the same stations prices had increased to $1.359 at Shamrock, Exxon, and Texaco; and $1.429 at Chevron!

The sudden increase was not overly dramatic; however, I view this as price gouging as a result of the terrorist strikes...... and it stinks!!!

Prices have moderated to $1.299 for most stations since yesterday, although a Shell station at FM 471 and Les Harrison is holding at $1.429. Greedy Bastards!!!

I got my $0.01 data from a national news report last night and is based on a national survey. Variations occur locally. Those you experienced were more likely localized wholesale market fluctuations. Supply and demand....... Diamond Shamrock actually ran out of fuel at several of their stations because of people hoarding gas.

Strieber posted, "Price gouging only occured on a very limited basis. Prices have risen on the average of $0.01 over this past week." very true but in particular cases the prices were in the 4.00 range. averages are good but seem to mellow the instances in this case.

"Carlos, What if the person who killed your loved one in the course of their assinine actions were still at large threatening the rest of your
loved ones. Would you accept that?" i think his existance would be punishment enough. always looking behind his back and wondering if today is the day he'll be caught. i got off on a tangent with the afterlife/current existance bit, that i forgot to mention that this person was shot by one of his own family members. karma? maybe. it all seems to come around.

"You seem to describe existence on this earth as something horrible and worthy of nuclear anhialation. Some of us have enjoy this life and our society even with it's faults and choose to fight for the right to live our lives. I'm sorry you think existing here suck so bad. I certainly hope you re-evaluate things soon." there are many things i enjoy life, there are a few things that i don't. if this "wipe out" becomes inevitable, i accept that....i don't think too many will have a choice. sorry if i gave the impression of ill will. BUT we can't live forever and our existance , i believe, on earth is but a flash. i'll live it up but i'm not going to attempt to wear out my welcome. while i don't look forward to death, i have, accepted it.

"Nader requires an open mind? Hardly..... What If???? I prefer logical thought and realism in times like these." yeah, he is headed in a different direction. i wonder what he's doing now? www.votenader.com

Chief strutting around shirtless with the Marzocchi girls......

    no more Litespeed?

it would be interesting to get a few days of coverage of this from across the pond and in the area of the Mid East.

One thing I miss about living in Seattle was that we got the Canadian news channels (they actually showed the events during the Olympics, not constant "personal interest" stories).

I wonder if they have any worthwhile news shows on BBC America, it's always good to see another spin on something

    ....

Joel it is funny that you should bring this up about Canadian news.....

Regarding Canadian News and the "Stand Proud America!" email that is floating around.... (BTW Thank you all who sent it to me, time and time again)

This is from a Canadian newspaper.

    AMERICA : THE GOOD NEIGHBOR

Widespread, but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator.

What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the Earth. Germany, Japan, and to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of War by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When the earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane.

Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC-10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about the Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about the German technocracy, and you get automobiles.

You talk about the American technocracy, and you find men on the moon. Not once, but several times and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs in the store window for everybody to look at.

Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those.
