    Terlingua 2009

    info:
    http://desertsportstx.com/masomenos.php

I couldn't resist posting this. When I was packing the sweat lodge for
Warda the scent of terlingua hit my big nose. At first I thought it was the eucaliptus oil, but then when I got to the bottle of eucaliptus I realized that what I first smelled first was Terlingua itself.

And it was good. It put me in a Terlingua Stupor.....so...."IN"... but you already knew that.

Is it just me or does it seem like a lot more people are excited?

    I won't comment on that.

    In, oh so in.

Maybe I can get someone to haul some of this firewood out there.

Departing Wednesday Feb. 11th @ 5AM. Arriving in Terlingua 12PM-ish.
There's just too much riding to get there any later than that.

Just like last year, Wednesday's ride this year will be on terrain brand new that you've likely never ridden before. Wheels down at 1:30PM so we need to setup tents/camp and get ready to ride expeditiously upon arrival. It's not really a very long ride, but accounting for picture taking as well as potential mechanicals, it's a very good idea to build some buffer time into the flight plan. El Sol clocks out for the day at 5:30PM sharp (as Alan & I learned the hard way this past Saturday when we were out there)

Wednesday night after the ride is open mic night @ LaKiva. I'll bring my guitar this year Mr. Z.

Like Alan, it's been 24 hours since Terlingua and I'm already ready to be there again.

I'm afraid lycra and polyester don't keep me warm enough in hurricane winds and 40║ temps. Seriously, I'd like to but I'm saving my time-off and money for another one of these trips, maybe this next time I can find a way to mix in some mountainbiking around Durango: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVngq54mXbI

In and doing my first race ever. Guess it's a good place to start. Does that mean you can't start drinking until Sat night? Maybe no tequilla before but Vodka and beer must be Ok.

"racing" is not an excuse to avoid drinking...

I'm going to do my first mtb paid ride there. I doubt there will be much racing involved. Still plan on doing it fixie.

You have to drink. The sweat lodge will cleanse you of all.

The hardest part about doing the race is not riding too much before the race, as the trails beckon

So ride first, then drink, then sweat lodge and drinking and repeat the next day. Is that correct Alan?
And besides I don't want to get kicked off the team.

My time off has been approved. I didn't think how "racing" would affect my drinking.
