    AIG... (NBR)

OK, so which are you more pissed about, AIG giving out $170-something million in bonuses after receiving bail-out money, or the fact that you haven't been able to land a gig that get's those kind of bonuses?
When it comes to the injured, there are two types: there is the type who leaves the injury alone and lets it heal; and there is the type who canít stop poking at it despite the pain it causes. Iím of the latter type, which is probably why Iím a cyclist. Cycling, of course, is the eternal pursuit of pain and discomfort. --Bike Snob NYC

auto workers had to make a deal with the government before getting a bail-out. why didn't AIG?

and another question because i am not sure: did this bail out money from from Bush' bailout plan or Obama's?

Years ago I worked for a health care system. The CEO had an 8 year/$8M contract.

He drove the system into the ground. So bad that it almost folded. It would have if it had not been bought out.

He was doing such a bad job, that 4 years into his 8 year contract they bought him out.

He was so bad that THEY PAID HIM A MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR FOR FOUR YEARS TO STAY HOME.

    I never forgot that.

I kept thinking that I could most likely run it better, and I'd be happy to get a quarter of that....

So the banks (and AIG) say that they need these bonuses to attract the tallent required to run these companies... I disagree. I am sure that they could find someone in their ranks who would do the job better for a fraction of the price.

one of the things I heard yesterday was that these were retention bonuses paid to the very creators of the derivatives that drove into the ground for the purpose of keeping the only people who knew how to "unwind" these clusterf*cked contracts.

that looks more like extortion to me.

and yes, I have to wonder why the contracts could not be renegotiated if the AIW was forced to do the same. I assume it is because no one knew that these easter eggs were laying around waiting to hatch. I have to wonder what other juicy nuggets await us on the AIG front.

'nita...saw a Senator on T.V. that for once had a logical (i.e. a freakin' clue) answer to these AIG employees. Yeah, AIG may have a contractual obligation to pay them their bonuses, but that doesn't mean they can't shit can them. Simple choice bonus check w/pink slip or refuse and keep your office. I say let the biggest mofo on the security service hand out the checks.

Do you want answers? I want the truth! You can't handle the truth!

...I'm not going to put you into a woodchipper. The rhetoric on this board is overblown. You're not a child killer or a mercenary.

Can we get past this please? I have never molested any child nor have you murdered one. I apologize for maligning your mother. Even though I cannot remember it, I apologize for it.
