It is with a heavy heart that Desert Sports must announce the cancellation of the 2010 Starlight Theater Mas O Menos 100k Mountain Bike Fest.

It’s been a great run, since back in the day (way back in ‘04) when we first convinced the fine folks at the CASI site that this whole mountain bike thing was a possibility. We had visions then of how great it could be ... but we never truly imagined how fabulous it would turn out! Dancing! Riding in sixty foot rattlesnakes! Racing! Eating! Smashing records and becoming part of the USAC National Ultra Marathon Calendar. And we all had so much fun the whole time. It was an honor and a privilege to fashion such a terrific festival for y’all to come out and enjoy.

But like all good things, this one has come to an end. After over 20 years as a mountain bike race course, we here at Desert Sports have finally been unable to secure satisfactory agreements with all of the landowners along this route. We can no longer present the event that you have come to know, to love, and to anticipate.

We want to thank everyone for making what turned out to be the “last” MasOMenos such a terrific event, and we need to thank all the participants and locals alike who have supported this event in all its incarnations in the past. With that in mind, we encourage all our terrific and generous sponsors to pop their sponsorship dollars that they had earmarked for Mas O Menos into the bank to collect interest ... because we’ll be back, soon, with something new and exciting, and we’ll be looking for your support for our next mountain bike adventure in West Texas.

Until then, true wheels and tailwinds, and we’ll see you on the trails!
I never came for the race anyway. The last time I raced there was in the Lajitas race days.

true, the pics I took in the sweat lodge one year got into a video. You must always be on your best behavior, you never know.

I'm hoping there is an exemption for 09 people. For the 9K admission fee anyway.

Your wildest hopes have come true. The recon trip was an enormous and huge success by any measure.

The "Mojo Wagons" will circle at Las Ruinas situated snugly right next door to "The Boathouse."

Chad has spent alot of effort fixing up the place in the last 9 months.

There are 8 canvas tents that can be rented for $15 per person, or you can do the tent camping thing with your own tent. KT said that she has seen several dozen tents setup along side the ones that are already there.

The canvas tents were on a wooden deck and you could setup a cot, or put an air matress down. Lots of time and effort was spent getting the ground level for each one of these canvas tent sites.

It is faint, but those are the Chisos Mtns. in the background. Very nice view to wakeup to every day.

For a few extra bucks, they have a kitchen area for use. A stove and two refrigerators. Although, there are rules for using the fridge. Or should I say "rule":

    Tia must have camped here.

There is a lounge/eating area inside an bus, incredibly similar to Dr. Doug's old one. It may be the same one, I need to ask Chad... or Dr. Doug.

The good news about the bus is that you'll never get lost. It comes equipped with a map right next to the drivers seat.

Lastly, there is a very nice bathroom sink where you can shave or brush your teeth.
(notice the view of the mountains in the mirror)

I'm hoping what you mean by "Mojo Wagons snuggling right next to the boathouse" means he allows trailers?
