    2010 Mas-O-Menos/Terlingua Thread

We've got less than 6 months or half a year. First order of business… The Unofficial Wednesday Ride.

I was talking with Richard and John a few weeks back and Richard asked if we could go on the Wednesday route that we did two years ago (2008), so that’s what we’ll do. He asked if we’d do the ride we did in 2009 again in 2011… and I think that sounds like a fantastic plan as well.

    Wednesday, February 10th 2010
Depart CASI in vehicles at 1:40PM to the ride departure location.
    Wheels down at 2PM.

Ideally, we should arrive at CASI that day at high noon or earlier. Unpack and setup as much camp as possible before 1:20PM, that gives us 20 minutes to get ready to depart for the ride.

I am posting up this stringent itinerary well in advance to give fair warning. Adhering to this timeframe is important as we will only have FOUR hours of sunlight to work with and this ride will take up most of that. And as Alan, Hello Kitty, Mrs. Kitty, and especially Spacemunky can attest, you do not want to be in the middle of the desert when the sun goes down. A tertiary and very selfish reason why I am going to be sticking to this tight schedule is that I don’t have much free time during the February trip because I am working the vast majority of the rest of the days, so I cherish every moment of time that I am afforded to ride, and Wednesday afternoon contains the bulk of my opportunity. So if you’d like to go on this specific ride, please be on time.

Also, I didn't list this in the paragraph above, but this is one of my top 7 favourite routes out there.

As always, I’m really looking forward to riding bikes out in the desert with you all and all of the many adventures and memories that lie ahead.

I do like a man that plans ahead.
I always feel like I don't get enough riding time in the dessert. I'm going to take an extra day off and make this ride.

    Perhaps.

Though it would mean someone else is stuck bringing all the firewood.

In if my back holds up.

Raise your skill level to the level of the trail, don’t bring the level of the trail down to your riding level.

Don't mind me, I'm just along for the ride.

Your Colorado trip this summer will come in handy. There is a bit of elevation on the first half of the route. Not as much as Tres Curevas but more than FM 1774.

I've got my request in for the trip, but haven't nailed down any dates yet. If the wife is working M-F by then I'm screwed and will be leaving on Friday... ugh. Might try to see if the In-Laws would be willing to come help out so I can go phuk off in the desert, but it'll be a stretch.

Won't know until two weeks out with job schedule but would love to plan on going. Fairly sure I can schedule this out and go early this time.

What desserts do you ride in, anyway, Melanie? Pie? Cheesecake? Pudding?

If I'm in Texas, I'm doing my best to be there!

I have bigger plans for the BikeMojo neutral support (read: Beer handup) at the Airport.

I cursed myself all the way up that hill for not taking advantage of your support last year. Looking forward to seeing what "bigger plans" translates too.
