So I was thinking aboot ditching Mojo Infuego Meno's No Mas and going back to Costa Rica or going Snowboarding or something stupid like that BUT I think I'm ditching those plans and putting this back on the calendar because of the relative inexpensiveness of it as opposed to the other trips.
Going to try to save a little dough for a bigger trip later in the year. Like, the biggest trip Iíve evar taken kind of trip.
Be there the whole week, camping and hiking in BigBend then heading down. There is one Canyon that I am going to conquer this year for sure and itís a toughie..

Good logic. The trip is so cheap that the small amount of money you will bank for the major trip is insignificant. Do both.

    Per Glenn

ďThanks for the email. Thanksgiving 1980 is when La Kiva first opened itís doors and the very first dinner served. Gil's brother(my Dad) and the rest of the family will be here to celebrate 30 years of La Kiva. We will have a traditional old fashioned Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and live music into the weekend. Hope to see you there!Ē

For those that donít know, Gil Felts (RIP) was Glennís uncle and the inventor & first proprietor of our beloved La Kiva.

I went ahead and made reservations for 7PM... gives us a chance to watch the Sunset before dinner. Hope that's OK.

I'm sure I'll need another break from what will be my first true winter up here in WI so I'm tentatively in.

So, will this be a small trailer friendly event? If so I may bring the trailer, otherwise I'll just tent it so I can hang with you crazy peeps! Yay!

Last year they discoraged us. But Laura and Charlie were easily able to find a place for their Pop-up in our camping area.

    Money talks.

The tent camping was pretty good too...

I'm planning to be in a tent.
Raise your skill level to the level of the trail, donít bring the level of the trail down to your riding level.

Don't mind me, I'm just along for the ride.

Also note, there are no electric/water hookups at The Boathouse Camping Area (formally called Las Ruinas http://lasruinashostel.com/)

Electric/Water hooksup campsites in the area in no particular: BJ's RV resort, Big Bend Motor Inn, Lajitas Resort. I've noticed over the years that retierees tend to book up both BJ's & Big Bend Motor Inn pretty quickly. (better to call and reserve now than later)

    Tobin et al,

Has anyone begun a carpool list? Does Mojo have a general reserved area @ the boathouse for tent camping? Finally after years of not being able to make it out there, I will be out there this year and want to go ahead and make reservations ahead of time to guarantee my spot.

FWIW, I don't mind driving out there and would have room for one comfortably in my little Honda with bikes and gear. On the other hand if someone is already planning on driving and wants company & gas $ I'm good with that too. I'm short and don't have much gear.

Las Ruinas (Boathouse tent camping area) is "first come, first serve" and do not take reservations. The group didn't come close to exceeding capacity last year and I would suspect the same for this year. That said the "really good spots" will be taken by Wednesday noon but there will still be good spots availible after that.

Looks like you just started the carpool signup list.
