    Is it February yet?

The Terlingua Triumvirate enjoyed a most excellent training ride on Leon Creek last Saturday, and we're ready to go!

On the contrary, Toobin is merely implying that the 4th Chicken of Kwanzaa is fast approaching.

Hey all, was looking for a little more information on the planned rides for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. My Dad is thinking about coming out, he's not a regular rider, so wondering how technical the rides might be, and if there are bail out points to shorten the daily rides if needed. I've ridden the race course so am familiar with those trails, but have not ridden the state park.

    Thanks in advance,
    Kyle

Rides aren't posted yet. I would imagine the schedule is somewhat similar to last year.

Old Ore Rd in the Nat'l Park... It was not really on the schedule, just happened that a large group of mountain bikers went and did that on Thursday. 35ish miles of jeep road. Starts at the Northern end of the Nat'l park and ends at the Hot Springs near Rio Grande Village.

Fri: Race course on the Lajitas Resort trail system, backwards from the way it has typically been ran at MoM & CDC events.

Sat: BBR State Park including the Contrabando, Dome & Fresno creek trail systems.

I should also note that a group arrived early enough on Wednesday to catch a short 10-15 mile ride on the Lajitas trail system. Loops 2/3/4 (not in that order).

There are spots in the State Park that are a bit more technically challenging than the most technical spots on the race course trails. I would rank them almost the same from a techinical standpoint. If I've ever felt like I was in over my head, I always just get off and walk.

Yes. Groups were splitting up prior to the start of the ride by a)desired distance & b) pace.

I will have to see if/where I am working then to know if I will be able to take time and travel for this. I miss Terlingua and really want to go.

There was a little bit of in-person chatter about the status of The Boathouse & Las Ruinas Campgrounds. Specifically, news on the street was that Chad was no longer there thus the question "is the operation still operating?"

Per KT, The Boathouse & Las Ruinas are alive & kicking. She spotted campers camping at Las Ruinas yesterday (and on days/weeks prior as well).

Hey Tobin, thanks for the info. I think we'll be able to make that work. I just wanted to make sure my dad would have some options.

I am no where NEAR the level of rider that most are in here and I was able to handle everything without falling over with an alien bursting outta my chest...
Though this year I am fatter and slower so we will see...lol

Interesting article from the most current version of the local news publication:

We now have absolute proof that there is a camera trained on the hot springs in the Park. Do not buy Mexican goodies, go naked, bring beer or your dog because, in time, there will be two uniformed Park Rangers there to escort you to your vehicle, ask to see your driver’s license and perhaps write you a ticket. You have been warned.
