    wheelset question...

Hey out there! I'm new to racing, and I just bought a set of 32 spoke open Pros for training. I was planning on using the Shimano 550 wheels that came with the bike for racing, but someone told me the open pros would be more deserving of my racing tires/tubes. Any thoughts on which wheel I should reserve as my racing wheelset? Thanks.

550s are pretty heavy and not very stiff. The I dont know what hubs you are running on the open pro's, but while its a heavy rim (you can race 'cross on it not problem) its very high quality, and a lot of euro elite jr teams use it. If you are a bigger guy, odds are the open pros will perform better when you sprint.

Thanks for your reply, stackout! I have Ultegra hubs that came with my open pros. I've been using the open pros for racing, but I'm wondering if the Shimano 550s would be more aerodynamic for a time trial (front wheel?). I'm going to put plastic spoke covers on the rear wheel. I'm a small guy at 135 lbs...
