    New Trails at Dana Peak

Pete or Tracy, would you be able to post the new trails at DP? Maybe one of your two could GPS all the routes and place a snapshot on this forum.

NP Martin. But I need to wait until my wrist heals and doc gives me go ahead. Momentarily I am retsricted to the trainer and road biking but I expect over the next few weeks that may change !

Martin, here's the link to a ride I did last year. Should include most of the new trails.

Your no challenge Tracy; you "ride like a girl"....LOL

Aaron I saw the link but does it include the new niner trail and the spurs?

Pete I heard about your wrist; that sucks. Just no writst action for a while...LOL
You should see the elevation up here, it's just stupid steep. My legs and lungs had to adjust the first few rides but I'm good now. If your not getting 1K of gain in 8 miles up here theres something wrong.

Martin, if you zoom in on the map and change it to satellite, you will see where the 1-9er trail starts. It's at the lost and found and goes off from there. one of the spurs off of it is on my map as well.

I can't believe you said that...anyway! On Tuesday, I rode almost 15 miles of trail from the trailhead to the old church group dirt road. That is the point where you can turn around before heading up the single track to the bench. I'll upload it as soon as I get a reliable internet connection and locate my garmin cradle at the same time.

Aaron's includes the one niner. But the trails in that area are ridiculous right now. The trails criss cross and intertwine, it's a bit crazy. Seems like overkill. So I got a number of those spurs but not the one that swings up and down the sides of the dry creek. I'll get that one when I get the trails from the church road to the other park.

I'm glad I ride like a girl and not a smelly boy.

Here's the back trails to the other park. I just realized when I zoomed in on my tracks that my garmin doesn't track much detail. :|

And here's the picture, it links but doesn't show up.

Pete, see you out there soon, glad your wrist is good to go!

Ok so I see the trail better with the satelite view. I guess you could still take the niner out to stillhouse park and then take part of the old trail back to lost and found, so as to make more of a loop instead of an out and back.

Yeah Pete I heard about somone making all types of criss cross trails out there. I wonder who is doing that.

MadDuc and I rode out there on Good Friday. It was the first time he had been there. I've been out there a few times before but didn't really get to scout the trails very well before now. We had a blast. Rode the trail to Stillhouse Hollow bypassing the 1-9er trailhead. We rode part of the old trail back to the trailhead. Could tell someone had done quite a bit of trail maintenance since my last trip out there. The trails were better now than ever in my opinion. I think we rode about 16 miles. We plan to get back out there pretty soon and ride some of the trails we missed. Funny, I only live about 9 miles away and I really never figured Dana Peak as being one of the better trails. Now I know better.

I have only 8/10th in rain 1st wave with one more band coming through shortly after midnight. As long as the rain total is not beyond say 2 inches and it is generally rain free most of Wed, Thurs and Fri I plan on hitting Dana Peak sometime Saturday morning..likely around tennish, dependent upon when friends from Houston arrive. 25four-five35-ohnine6six.

IDK if I can make it on Sat...I have something very important to do but I'll keep looking at my timeline and see if I can squeeze it in, lol. I

love Dana Peak and love the new trails but everytime I go out there it seems like someone has removed another obstacle so it's the easiest trail ever but it's saving grace is that it's just plain fun and fast.

    Damn Trail Trolls!

Other than the booby traps people build obstacles over here. I had to remove my spacer from my forks to extend them to the full 150 for this terrain.

I work in Austin so I normally ride Walnut or at Lake Georgetown. I live right outside of Killeen on 439. I need to start riding Dana Peak more often. I really enjoyed it the last time. A friend of mine rides it several times a week. I need to meet some others that ride locally. I'm kind of a newbie but I'm really enjoying the riding.
