Did the ACA/SA Wheelman combo 'River Road' ride starting from Gruene yesterday. Beautiful route down by the river and out through the Hill Country. Long ride was advertised at 52 miles, but according to most odometers, it was closer to 60. Several good extended climbs along "Devil's Backbone" and one leg burner on "Purgatory" just when you thought you were done climbing. Paces ranged from fast to leisurly. All followed up with good food at the Grist Mill
The weather was perfect and lots of Mojos were in attendance. I don't think they'll repeat this route until after the summer tubing season is over because of the traffic on the tight, twisty roads - but when they do, definitely try and make it out. It's well worth the drive to Gruene.
