so i'm starting this thread as the running appointment book for DJ sessions and the like.

i'm probably going to ditch out of my morning responsibilities tomorrow (wednesday, the 2nd) and go ride. who's able to join me? locations i have in mind: ninth, TRU, this cedar park park (not without company), maybe WC... ideas? i need to be back at school by noon, probably... but if i don't make it, i won't cry. who's free?

What - forteen views and no replies? I still have not gotten to see those beauts in person. You know I'm down. Name the time and place. I would like to incorperate some urban in there somehow. Otherwise I don't care. Lets hit a couple of spots.

I'll be back at work so no more riding until the weekend likely. Too much junk to clean up here.

okay... what sort of urban stuff did you have in mind? i can think of a couple cool spots for drops, and there's a wallride i might want to try... but it'll be broad daylight, and we won't be able to session anything. we could always do that, and ninth street... there's some stuff at ninth that anyone can ride, as well as the scary shit. we could always head back out to TRU. probably no one would be there at all. ...it's not very near any fun urban stuff, that i know of, though.

C_T... i'll call you midmorning. i've decided that i'll be good to go until three-thirty or so...

Hey, can someone scope the jumps at Rundberg? It's not that close to TRU or downtown, but kinda sorta close to WC (right down Lamar). If not, I'll try to check em out soon. Here's the directions:

"On W Rundberg lane between Lamar and Parkfield, there is a park on the north side of Rundberg that has a series of BMX jumps. Probably a series of 6-8 jumps in a row. It has recently been built up in the past 6 months."

:)

TRU sounds cool. Urban was fresh on my mind last night so thats why I said it. Now that it is a new day and I got plenty of urban riding in my dreams. bla bla bla. :p Inbred you in.

TRU, then. i'm down. i'll give you a call in a little while. gotta clean up the bike a little, and have some breakfast (priorities?)... i'll definitely need to be out of there by 3:15-3:30, though.

Ok, corrections to the above directions -- and it might just be worth the drive. It's on the north side of Rutland, east of Parkfield. There's like this slightly wooded field and, what looks like a creek or ditch or something that runs next to it. Very nice from what I could see with some real doubles and what looked like some smaller tables. This might be something I could hit, but someone like chasten would be able to do the doubles. I'll have to actually ride there to see if they're really steep or not. They looked well kept. Check em out.

Damn Toonces I thought you were going to post that you had called in sick and that you were going to meet us out at TRU. :( The RoLlEr CoAsTeR line looks small enough to learn on.

It's either call in sick, ride and get canned, or go to work :( :D

Yea they say Employee attendance (not calling in sick) is the highest since 1991 with the economy the way it is.. Not a good time to loose a job. I have only use 2 hours of sick leave in the past 9 months. They have been laying off all the people that abuse their paid personal time. They are not employing enough people to cover. That said, use an emergency Vacation Day :D

North of 183. From where you're at, you can shoot straight up Lamar past 183, then start looking for Rundberg a little ways down. ONce you pass that, get in left lane and look for Rutland (maybe only a block down) and take a left. You pass one light, I believe -- street name is Mearns Meadow Blvd -- but on the right side a little ways off Rutland, you'll see the jumps. Hard to miss. If you pass Parkfield, you've gone too far. Got it? :)

sooo... Crash_Tested and i went out there this afternoon. it was pretty cool. nice to know it's there. not much content, but pretty fun, anyway. trails were a little dry and crumbly, but would be great otherwise. we also played around with a little drop at some nearby apartments, and did some nosewheelies, and rode skinnies (bricks turned on their sides), and then rode in this big drainage ditch that we turned into a huge flyout jump. that last part was really pretty fun.

we also decided that the spot to learn to jump might be Cap City BMX. we definitely want to organize a mojo trip out there (again) with you guys bringing along the new rides. just a matter of getting everyone available on some saturday.

Are the jumps smallish or what? And yeah, I'm up for a lil BMX track action.

cASe
04-02-2003, 10:00 PM
Smallish to Chasten maybe. There were like two tabletops out there. The smallest one I landed 50% of the time, it had a slight angle leading up to it and would through my balance off. The other one was slightly bigger than the one on "BMX Loop" at WC and I had a hard time hitting it with speed. Chasten had no probs. The last ditch thing was pretty cool and I finally launched it pretty good on my last attempt. That felt good because I was feeling pretty ashamed of my other lame ass attempts. That skinny brick drop Chasten did was pretty impressive as well. Like 3"s wide 10' long and a 5'-5 1/2' drop.

chasten
04-02-2003, 10:17 PM
yeah, that flyout was cool. i also liked my last jump best on that thing. just go fast, and fly! and that skinnydrop... i think was more like four feet. but it was cool, too. i fell off of it about ten times before i made it...

I'm going to have to come watch you guys... see how it's done. At my age i'd probably break a hip, end up with a walker, and get put in a rest home.

Crash_Tested, it was nice to meet ya this afternoon - hope the tire works out well!

hey inbred...

i'll be working at the shop tomorrow morning/early afternoon... come on by, man! if i have an excuse, i would probably head out to 9th with you (like around 2:00 or a little later). it's been a while since i've been out there. i DO have a bunch of work that i should be doing, but a riding opportunity before i get completely overwhelmed sounds pretty good...

but anyway... i won't be mojo-ing after a few minutes from now, so please give me a call if you want to meet up or whatever: 512.924.7929 or at the shop: 512.477.4221

mandi and i went to 9th and it was full...so we headed to N. Lamar. i wasn't riding for jack shit, so we left pretty quickly..here's a couple shots for those who haven't seen it(big):

N Lamar? Is that the Rutland stuff? How big is that compared to Cedar Park?

That lookback pic is badass. Style, baby.

there are a couple that are good sized doubles. the one in the far back of that first pic was probably the biggest. a bmx-er hit a few lines before mandi and i left and he was catching pretty big air. in my opinion, the pics are deceiving. i wasn't feeling it out there, though. i was coming up short on the tabletops. a few small doubles.

the Inbred
04-18-2003, 10:06 PM
oh, and the kid on the blue bike was getting nice air. best of the 8 or so riders that were out there. the guy doing the wall ride slipped. apparently that wall is too slick 'cause they were complaining about it. i only saw one guy stick it clean.

Are you gonna be in Austin anytime soon, Squasher? I live fairly close to those trails so I can meet you there if I'm not slav -- uh, I mean, working.

Theres directions on page 1 of this thread. Read through them and you'll get a good idea where they are at. Turn right on Meadow something or other and you can park along the street over there.

the Inbred
04-19-2003, 12:56 AM
yeah, if you're coming from SA, i figure you can go 35 to 183N, exit Lamar, turn right onto Lamar, look for Rutland (after Rundburg) and turn left, then look for them on your right after Mearns Meadow. i parked at the apartments on the left side. it's a really, really tight area. at most, maybe 12ft across. a little drainage ditch (ala, the Comfor Creek) just off the right side of them. if you go to the right off the first double, you'll be in the creek.

toonces
04-19-2003, 01:29 AM
Actually, just take I-35 to the Rundberg exit (just North of 183). Take the left onto Rundberg. Pass one light I think, then look to get into the right lane and turn right onto Lamar (big intersection). Then immediately left at the next light which is Rutland. Look to the right and park in the nighborhood I imagine.

cASe
04-19-2003, 01:39 AM
IF you pass Mearns Meadows you will have to cut through the hood or turn around. Just turn right on Mearns Meadows and the jumps will be on your left. And you can Park right in front of the park along the street.

I think I need to get my knee X ray'd.

T00nces, remember that one session we had up at Cedar Park where I biffed before you got there? My knee *still* hurts. Im gonna give it a few more weeks then go in if it is truly buggered.

I know, boo hoo hoo.

but i've got to say... this thread is for posting RIDES and SESSIONS -- not ANTIrides. you had me excited for a second there. thought you were going to announce that the monty was miraculously resurrected and eager to get down to business....

hope the knee feels better soon, though. while we're talking about it, my right shoulder is also STILL flummoxed from about three weeks ago. ride on.

oh, and... boo hoo hoooooo.
