On may 17th (not on a tmbra race weekend) I'm headed over to cloudcroft, nm to race the high altitude classic. Awesome place to ride. Just when it's getting hot here in tx cloudcroft will be nice and cool. The course has more climbs and downhills than you can shake a stick at. There is also going to be a downhill race on sunday in which there's a ski lift to take you to the top, but I'm not doing it. Anyone is welcome to caravan along. So far me and a buddy are planning on making it a 6 day trip. I know of some others that may go that weekend for the race only.

my trip includes leaving friday morning easy ride in Carlsbad, nm. Race on sat. Easy ride on sunday in Las Cruces. Ride the robledos trail in LC on monday(intensity of riding cp with more scenery and elevation change). Ride a couple of times in northern NM including this trail...

then be home by wednesday night.

I imagine I'll be a stronger rider when I return :D

Wish I could....
Did a 10K race up there a few years back. It just about kicked my arse........
Read an article in Bicycling recently about the railroad trails in Cloudcroft. Probably try and make it that way before the end of the year. Parents are in La Luz, at the base of the road leading up to Cloudcroft from Alamogordo.

Have fun!

Sounds like a cool race. Is there a web site with more information on the goings on that weekend?

why bother with such low altitudes? just skip straight to the himalyan crit series being put on by the mojo sherpas.
