Let's get a team together for the MS150 ride from Houston to Austin! I think it would be great and for a great cause. The website gives a lot of the details, but in short the date is April 20-21. Ride leaves west Houston on saturday morning and stops in La Grange. Spend the night and then ride to Austin on Sunday morning.
Here is the website: http://www.ms150.org/
Logistics allow for riders to catch a bus from Austin to Houston which would work great for us SA riders.
Thoughts?? Anyone??
TMBRA race at Waco is the same weekend:( :(
If I remember right, we tried to do something that weekend last year and a race or the Ride for the Roses overshadowed that weekend.
I know this cause we were going to have a big bash at Jimmy's and had to wait for the infamous Memorial Day Funstival which we hope to make a yearly event. Signals the return of overbearing sun and heat on the Comfort trails. After that better start your rides early (that goes for everywhere around here, not just Comfort).

Ride for the Roses is the weekend before this. You could put in some serious road miles in a week particpating in both...

Forgot to mention that I have kinda made some room on the Toyota team for us. No big deal, but gets us some extra help on logistics, our own big camping tent, cool team jersey for cheap (cost) and a fully catered dinner saturday night by Outback Steakhouse.
As I recall, Bikin Gail from HOU rides on the same team.
In short I am riding it and want you all to as well! C'mon with us.

I'm warming up to it as it sounds like a lot of fun. The logistics of the travel, food, and sleepover had me questioning if it was worth the effort. What is the anticipated cost per person we could expect on this ride? To participate in this ride means I better start grinding out some miles on the bike in preparation. Lemme know.

Best way to do it sounds like drive to austin friday afternoon, catch a bus there to HOU (they wrap your bike in blanket/wrap and ship to HOU for you). Stay in Hotel there (likely Houstonian) gather up with team early saturday, ride to La Grange (100mi), spend the night there (party and camp out), on sunday eat big pancake breakfast they fix, ride to austin, drive home to SA.
You can register online for the team. Transport and registration is $45. Minimum pledges to raise =$300. I can get a good hotel rate at the Houstonian for us. Let's go team mojo.com.:D :D :D

Man, I just don't know. Really want to and the manly side of the brain says "just do it", but the wuss side says "you're kidding - that's an awfully long ride for a road rookie."
I think my arm can be twisted. Let's talk. 647-0620

In fact, I've been meaning to do this one for the past couple of years but April always seems to be a busy month for me and I can't spare the weekend. Hopefully, this won't be the case this year.
The total participation cost is a little steep, however (once you figure in the time off from work on Friday afternoon, possibly Monday morning, bus fare, hotel, and pledges), but damn, the route sure is pretty that time of the year.
Speaking of the route, I keep waiting for them to do Austin to Houston instead of the other way around that way it would be mostly downhill! :) as oposed to the gradual climb from Houston/sea level to Austin/Hill Country (I know, call me a climb-wuss, but I AM lugging around an extra 50-100 lbs on some of you!).
Anyway, keep me posted on how things develop. I too could be easily talked into it.

I have always wanted to do the Houston to Austin MS150.
But...
There is no way that I am going to miss the Waco XC race. Cameron Park Rocks.
