Is there a magic length for the cable housing that runs to the rear der. from the chainstay? I think I put the new one on from the Flak Jackets too short. I can't get the shifting right one way or the other. It seems that it is slugglish and usually doesn't want to go from high to low gears.

data, check these first.

-reamed out the ends of each peice of housing.
-no kinks in the cables
-no bent tips on the ferrules
-no grease used anywhere in the system
-no excessive length of housing from one cable stop to the next

the photo, the last peice is about 12" long. doesn't mean much but it's a good reference point.

I think it is definitely too short, It's a chainstay mount and the housing is only 9". Off to get a new cable. I had alrady checked for any binding and none was present without the loop on the rear housing.

yeah, looks too short.

right as it enters the barrel adjustter on the rear der. you can see it kinks. you may wat to try 13" first and then cut down from there.

also, if when you cut the housing, if you get any of those yellow kevlar threads showing, just comb them back and slip on the ferrule or cut them with a some scissors.
