I think you need to retard your anger level down a few notches, thanks...

I had been racing for a couple of years before I transfered to SWT. I was really excited to be able to join a cycling team, meet people that love riding as much as I do, and share racing experiences together. Well, to be honest, it has not lived up to my expectaions. Don't get me wrong, racing at a low cost will keep me going to Collegiate events, and I've had great experiences.... but what's up with the lack of passion? Nobody (besides Joe) cared enough to just say, "hey, I'm here." I guess I may be over reacting; I guess I don't care either. I want to be proud to be part of SWT Cycling, not embarrased. I wear my jersey whenever I race and I do so out of personal pride; I would like to have a team, and teammates to be proud of as well.
C'mon firing squad, let me have it!
...I'm not angry, just agitated

Well pardon me, I thought starting this forum and posting almost everyday on this forum and the NB forum was good enough, and about to spend 3 hours tonight trying to recruit people by myself, after sending 2 emails trying to get team mates to show up which did not work, except for Matt V who covered me last month. Orrrrrr the fact I have been working on a new website for the team...
http://www.studentorgs.swt.edu/swtcycling
ORRRRRRRR the fact I am having a meeting at Valentinos Tues @ 7pm for the team, which I expect few to show up
OOOORRRRRRRRR I have already got anyone who races free labor at pedal power next year, was good enough, but here is my hand raised to say I am out here.

First of all, my hat's off to you, Andy, 'cause you have already done a lot. Last year I had tried to get more things going on by starting up the club mtb forum which, as you know, was a flop as far as organizing rides goes. Getting this started has been awesome for me, 'cause I have been doing a lot of riding/racing and meeting tons of new people here in Austin. Bike Mojo is the Bomb! That's the thing, there is so much potential. How do we tap into it?
My "attack" was not aimed at you. My point is: aren't there more than 5 people on the team that are looking at the forum and not posting anything? I guess maybe there isn't I'll try to leave this alone, and let nature take its course.
When I said, "I'm taking over this forum!" I didn't mean it literally. I said that 'cause I had all the last posts on the forum, and knew it would stay like that for a while.
Pascal,
What are you talking about? 11 months? Chumps? Is that a challenge?
I hope so,
I am moving back to Austin then, you know Grad degree and all. My recreation admininstration undergrad has been really useful:rolleyes: so I think I am going to go for the "Texas State" grad program, I here its at the same school I went to for undergrad but i'm still a litle confused. Anyhow I hope that the team continues to grow and have success, I like what I have seen and heard so far. I ran into an MSU alumni up here and when I told him I was on SWT's team for a while he just laughed. It really pissed me off and if I am coming back to SWT, sorry TSU, I want to go out and kick some SCCCC A@@. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone :D So I hope to see you guys in a year, anyone still going to be around? That is of course unless anyone comes and visits Indy for free lodging (my house) and unlimited track use, I guess I could probably line up a KHS track bike in just about anyones size. I guess its back to work, you all have fun,
Nick

Looks like shit is getting pretty intense down in the hill country.
I know last year was pretty weak as far as team member participation goes, but i think this year our program will be alot stronger. After all, we got freakin fat Andy freakin Pace leading the charge. Anyways, what do you guys think about holding a road ride as a fund raiser. I know we will probebly only get 4 people to ride the first year but you have to start some where. The triathlon team made 10,000 big ones last year for their race. Just a thought. Late.

MSU just happens to spank us at every road race we do. Got that? road race we do? We don't ride much road so let them talk smack about that.
Put them on the dirt, and it's a whole other ball game. THEY SUCK! Actually I think I've only raced against one MSU rider before. It was at a NORBA RACE in 2001....I whipped his ass!
They can talk shit about road riding, but do we care?
We can woop up on them on MTB's, and that's all that matters :D

i have had the privilage to race against a member or two from the msu team and they always ended up behind me. i can't believe that you guys can't beat em. at the next road race take a bike pump to their wheels and see if they can fall with style. if you guys need some help with training for the next year i will be around to help with rides or at least ride with you all.
by the way which msu are we talking about....

Wow, these are all good, valid thoughts.
When I was yer age (Class of '98, SWT Cycling Prez '95-96), we had the same old issues. There were fast times, and slow times, sometimes we didn't ride at all. But, we always kicked it on the MTB, and track when we went. Even though we'll never be as big as A&M (very organized), or as sponsored as MSU (Hotter than Hell $ paid scholarships to recuit riders).
So, don't worry about it. This is a club sport. I've even called it a support group. But, it is not about being a pro bike racer. It is about having fun, staying fit, and meeting friends while preparing for a professional career. Good luck to those who ride 6 hours a day, and don't study|job search|network. There's not that many USPS wrench jobs out there, so just remember why you're here!
The challenge is keeping the team together, and turnover is constant. If you asked me (and you didn't), the important stuff is to:
1. recruit freshmen
2. hold regular, advertised training rides
3. make sure new riders don't get dropped
Racing comes after that, and attitudes don't win races, or get jobs.
