What did you guys do to my wife?!?!

Just kidding!:D :D :D

It appears that it was a rough night to be named Christie, seeing how both casualties bear that name. You ladies are hard-core. I'd be scared to ride with you!:D :D :D

Actually, we all know freak accidents occur. It's part of the game if you're really trying hard to improve your skills. It was good to see both women still smiling and to have their injuries limited to flesh wounds, albeit nasty ones. I've posted some pics of your fallen compadres.

Check 'em out! (http://www.bikemojo.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1172)

But be advised, they are not for the squeemish. Not that any of you ladies are!:D :D :D

Thanks for all you have done with the RLAG. I know my wife is stoked on it and looks forward to getting back on the trail with you!

Thanks for the update and pics. It was a very strange evening for RLAG and carnage. Two to the hospital for stitches and at least one other pretty badly scraped up before we left the parking lot. My first aide kit needs replacing 'cause it is now empty from one nights use. I'm glad every one is mostly OK and a huge thanks to the ladies who helped out the unlucky ones. I left the park thinking that was going to be my last time I lead a ride.

I just got off the phone with Angela.

Christie #1 had her quad cut open by the broken brake lever, not a gouge from the handle bar end.

Christie #2 got sliced on the inside of the calf by the big chainring.

Heal fast ladies.

Yikes! The gouge wound looks extremely painful!

WC can do that to you - It's where I tend to crash the most.

Get well soon, girlz!

Hey, it's me... Christie #2, the less wounded of the bunch. I ended up with 11 stitches courtesy of the big ring. Ouch! (I'm sure Sean will be posting photos soon - he's so proud!) But I didn't get nearly as wounded as Christy #1. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery! I'll be taking a little time off, but I'll be back riding when the stitches come out. See you soon!

thanks for the update, glad you are up and about. how long til the stitches come out?

i only waited two days before starting to ride with my knee stitches. the doc said leave them in 2 weeks; 4 made 12 days, 3 came out after 6 days.

It'll be 8-10 days before the stitches come out. As long as everything seems to be holding together at that point, I'll be back riding again.

You ladies are hardcore. I'm too much of a wuss to get stitches.

Christy #1 is healing well. She is taking care of herself and her spirits are high. You all should get together for a none ride event so those that are temporarily disabled can still feel a part of the group.

Would debbie be the one to organize this? Oh and you might want to invite Shinerider since he not only rides like a girl, but recently wounded himself at CP also. Check out the ARR forum.

Best wishes to Christy #2 and speedy recovery. I got a chance to see your boys and luckily they look like you! :)

Man, I hope rode biking is a little more safe than mountain biking. Yeah, I just made the switch on bikes. Going to do triathlons and a road bike seemed more practical. Speed though, man, I am afraid!

Sounds like we may have enough walking wounded for an event... What should we call it? Or has "Crash Like a Girl" become its official name?:p

that would be true, except that road bikes share the road with cars, and I think those collisions tilt the safety advantage back to mtn. biking. I know lots of mtn bikers that bave gotten broken collarbones.wrists, and assorted stitches. I know roadies that have gotten hit by cars and been lucky to survive.

Yes, I have read some aweful stories about road bikers getting hit and very mangled. Scary! I hope I will be fortunate enough not to. My Mother-in-law works for TXDOT and hooked me up with a connection that I may be able to rally enough people together with to get some safety legislation passed. Who knows? These things have to start somewhere. Hubby is a newbie in Mountain Biking and he likes it a lot. Just not my cup of tea. See, I am relatively clumbsy and generally scared to go fast on the rocks. I have fallen and had minor bruises and that is enough for me. I am just dreading the day when I fall going down a hill at 35mph+!!! OUch! Thanks for the reply.

:D :D :D I am glad to hear that the ladys are doing better. I think I heard your story from hubby, who's into mountain biking, the other day. News travels fast! My best to them in their healing. They are very tough......very admirable!

Hey everyone...
okay, mountain biking is not that dangerous... not paying enough attention is!!! anyhow... i guess that is why it is called an accident... do something 30 times, never fall, then just do something silly..
At any rate, i have 20+ stitches on the inside of my leg, and those are left to dissolve. The 20 on the outside are coming out on monday if all looks good, although the ER doctor said 12 days. I need to fix my bike before I ride again, but hope to be back on soon. Admittedly, the thigh muscle is a little sore, but that would be because of the little hole in the middle of it. But hey, it could have been worse.

Hey everyone,

I'm Kristi #3 and it sounds like I was pretty lucky to make it home without stitches last night. I didn't get so much as a scratch. I myself think that's a good thing but my husband says, "If you didn't crash, you weren't going fast enough." Anyway, I wish the both of you a speedy recovery. - Kristi#3
