lets brainstorm on mojo this week....

1st brainstorm -- The race has been moved to Nov. 1 b/c nat'ls are the other weekend. I already have a willing norba official with computerized results and all sorts of goodies. Nov. 1 is an off weekend for TMBRA so all the nearby courses should be avaialable that weekend of CL fails

2nd -- lets figure out a jersey company next tuesday so we can have it set for the fall with no questions.

3rd - Sponsors, so are sponsors supoose give us money or service and that is it or what. I dont get it. someone explain this to your brilliant president. Thanks.....

4th - I farted, excuse me

Someone had said something about a new brand of jerseys to get, but I can't find the thread. I think it was Joey.

Who makes custim team Jerseys besides Louis Garneau?

Wont make it to the foam Party, but I will be at the next meeting we have.

Ride on!

Nov 1st - we may have a cross race in New Braunfels that day, but Sunday Nov 2nd would work for me.

Clothing:
If you guys are doing bibs/shorts, I highly recommend Castelli/Squadra and get the Progetto y2 padding (y2 donna for the ladies).

http://www.squadra.us

If you guys are just doing jerseys, Panda Sports is the best bang for the buck.

The US sales rep for Panda is in D/FW area.

SIDE NOTE: I never thought I'd care about a full zipper until this year when I got my first jersey with one. It is very nice to have the full zip.

So far I have talked to Castelli, VergeGear, and Voler. All of these are pretty closely priced...However VergeGear is 10% for colleges. I still am going to contact Biemme which has a guy especially for collegiate racing and may have a few sponsorshiop hook-ups. Thus far I am liking Castelli, they just seem to have the best service and gear. What do ya'll think abot accessories like socks and jackets?

P.S. I will see ifi can change it to the 2nd.

Andy,

1.) Jerseys: I like Castelli, heard of Biemme and Nalini also in the pro peloton. My opinion is that Voler is a no-go since UT had bad luck with them both time shipping and also quality. / I would be interested in 2 sets of jersey/shorts and perhaps a skinsuit for the TT's. It would be cool to have Texas State socks and some other goodies as well. Can we sell them on the website like the Aggies do? http://amct.tamu.edu/schwag/

2.) Sponsors: the sponsors that give us stuff or $$$ get logos usually on the jersey. Clif Bar will be giving us a reasonable amount of Bars and Shots over the year, so that would be a logo. If I get Park Tools, they just give us a "pro deal", so since they do not ask we usually would just give them a logo on the website, but no jersey space. Depending on our design and if we have a big sponsor, we can give a better spot to the higher $$$ one.

3.) Deadlines/Jersey Ready: As for sponsors, most have sponsorship proposal letter deadlines between Sept. and Dec. and most will be known by Nov.-Jan., which does not help the process, but in a way it does not matter since most $$$ sponsor who get jersey logo space are local and quicker to discuss. BTW, we need to check with the university as to how we may present logos in relation to our school logo and Texas State font.

4.) Race - sounds good. I do not MTB, but I will for the team for points if I get lucky, hehe. Otherwise, I will be help on the ground for running it.

5.) Hooters - No kidding, if I have enough time I bet I could get the Hooter girls to come to a race like they did the Pace Bend race. Is there a Hooters in San Marcos or nearby?

Hooters! That is the best idea I have ever heard. There is a new one in Selma which is about 30 minutes away. Something to check out at least.

Whatever vendor you go with... you'll want to complete the order prior to Interbike (which is typically end of Sept. or beginning of Oct.) You'll only wait 6-8 weeks rather than 3-4 months and, some companies offer a better price break if you order pre-Interbike.

Talked to biemme today, I really like the guy. He is sending the price list tonight. He wanted to set a walk-thru of the plant or store in Houston, and send us a sizing kit as well. I just want to see how their customer service stacks up to their prices. So far this could be a good possibilty.

Everyone I talked to that has had verge stuff has only bitched, something I've heard a lot is that the elastic they used wears out after 2 months/10 washes etc.

You should check out my castelli uniforms, you'll be convinced. If I were making the choice I'd pay an extra 20% for castelli over the other companies you've mentioned. TRUST ME.

The Aggies have had a lot of luck with Castelli and it looks and feels really good. I only have one Castelli jersey, but I'd definitely pay a little extra for it. Voler is OK for the dough but the quality and feel are nothing exceptional.

what about biemme

Andy,
I have heard mixed reviews and only have one Biemme long sleeve T-Mobile jersey that I haven't field tested yet (too hot still). I would take Biemme over Voler though from looking at it and feeling it in comparison. What type of numbers have they given us? Castelli has some awesome chamois.
Thanks,

J o e y :-)

As for new jersey's, you can't go wrong with the classic white cotton wife -beater.
It's economical and cool.
