Hey everyone!

Who is interested in going to ride Flat Rock before the race? For those of you who haven't ben out there, its a fun, but rough course. It has several killer climbs with some nasty uphill switchbacks - but with rewarding downhills. Has a lot of sections with tons of jagged rocks that are rough on your ass - no clean line, you just have to endure it. There are also some tricky technical sections that will either allow you to make a gap, or be gapped

I want to go on the weekend of September 6-7. That will give a couple weeks to let it sink in, make any changes if needed, and really focus on the race. So far, there are only two MTB races on the schedule. Let's be sure to kick some ass every chance we get!

If more people go, we can break it up into groups of different levels - It's always nice to ride in a group where everyone is comfortable with the level of riding.

Accesss is $6, I think. If I'm not mistaken, the drive should take about 1.5-2 hrs from San Marcos.

WHO'S IN?!

:D

Flat Rock is awesome, but beware of the "almost western" mustached cane walkin' & pokin' owner... he is EVIL! If you see him stick out your rosary or cross and maybe he will leave you alone, hehe.

sure thing, what day? I was thinking about getting a cabin out a U-camp one of those weekends and do a little riding/trailwork/drinking/meeting for the team, on a sat. night

Saturday 9/6 or Sunday 9/7. I wanted to leave it open until I got some feedback on who would be interested. Definitely just a day trip, though. So Pace, you in?

Anyone else?

BTW: Riding is fun! ....I think?

Yo Andy,

What needs to be done as far as paperwork goes for this race? I the past we have had issues with getting reimbursed 'cause of not turning it in on time. I think the gas and other estimates have to be turned in at least a couple of weeks before the race. We're getting close. I guess we need a headcount to see who's going and how much money we need. our first meeting is less than two weeks before the race, so we'll have to estimate the unknowns

Yeah I am hoping they hold the sport club meeting soon, b/c we have no idea how the budget works. I can however get a hold of the right forms to register us for the flat rock race. It has to been down two weeks before the event, so I will get it turned in middle of next week. If you had to guess how many do you think I should put down. I need to call flat rock and get a campsite reserved as well.

Are you speaking of the FlatRock out in Comfort? I'm not sure who you are thinking of, but Jimmy out at Flat Rock is SUPER nice. I have met him a couple of times. Once out at his place after we finished a ride, he and his wife rode up on their bikes just to come say hi and ask how our ride was.

And I think it is a fun, technical course with some hard climbs.

Yah, he is awesome, but he's been burnt by promoters (especially collegiate) that don't have their act together. We need to be ON TOP of things if we do that because that's a course that could easily be lost to all teams from one good screw up. Call me and call rec sports about whatever you don't understand. Any time you call them trying to be on top of things it makes us look a lot better, so DO IT. And I've only promoted something like 20 races myself so you should contact me to SOOON.

yo - we're not HOSTING the race there, we're just going to race it! No need to worry about Jimmy; I'm sure he'll be fine, Matt. All we need to do is reserve camp space for those that will be camping.

Sorry my bad. Things have gotten a little confusing since I haven't seen or talked to anybody for alomst a month. I went to the supposed meeting at valentinos last night and waited for at least 20 minutes with no show. Guess I'm outa the loop.

If noone calls me or replies on mojo I have to assume noone is down to meet. Its all about the communication...
