On the same bike subject, I would like to get that frame repainted. Is there a place in either San Antonio or Houston that does frame refinishing for bikes? What's the best way to strip rust and paint off a frame? From my experience in auto body work, I'm thinking either sand blasting or bead blasting. With bead blasting probably being the safer route. What about acid bathing the frame? Is that too harsh/expenseive? An inquiring mind wants to know

There's guys are not local, but they are supposed to be some of the best around. The stuff on the website looks excellent.

Have you used them yourself? Know anyone who has?

as far and refinishing and painting, i'm not too up on a lot of that.

what i do know for sure, is that most companies will not warranty a frame if it is refinished or repainted by anyone other than that company.

TK,
I got a chance to look at the page, sweet stuff! I'm going to give them a holler and see what they can do for me. Thanks for the link.

Carlos,
Yeah, I've heard of that before. This thing is like a 60's or 70's Schwinn though. You know, the kind that were built to last! :) Seriously, I don't think Schwinn would still cover the warrenty because I'm not the original owner, not to mention the age of the bike.

No - not yet, anyway. I'm buying a new bike and am considering a custom color scheme, and these were the folks recommended by the bike builder.

Local framebuilder (Wimberly) who also paints frames; I've seen a road bike he's built and a frame he's painted - both excellent. From what I've heard he's an artist though - don't expect the job to be done on time or in a timely manner....

Thanks Joe. I'll check out his site. Wimberely I could deal with because it's still in state. Does he let you come by and check out his work? I'd like to see some of the things he's done up close.
