Anyone know a shop in town that has decent 8 sp cassette's available?

Try bikeworld. I got my XT cassette from them.

also, if you want a 32 largest cog they have XTR.

if i remember correctly, XTs largest cassette has a 30.

it's going on eBay soon if a local doesn't snarf it up

8-spd XTR (steel) cassette, light for an 8-spd, maybe half a season on it and it is in good condition

$25 seems fair
