Award winning Team Crestview invites you take part in....
ONE Challenge, ONE Cause
THE CHALLENGE: October 4th and 5th, Biking: Your challenge is two days of bicycling, 150 miles of sweat and smiles, all while raising money to help people who have multiple sclerosis. Cyclists of all ages and abilities from all around the country (and overseas) will take part in this two-day cycling adventure that covers San Antonio to Corpus Christi, via Beeville. So tune up your bike as we gear up for the MS 150 Bike to the Beach in 2003. This is an experience for all cycling enthusiasts; the MS 150 Bike to the Beach is definitely one weekend adventure that you don't want to miss!
THE CAUSE: The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is the only voluntary health agency in the country supporting worldwide research to find the cause, cure and treatment for multiple sclerosis. They also offer many programs and resources to help individuals living with MS and their families. Multiple sclerosis usually strikes adults in the prime of life-- between the ages of 20 and 50. It is a chronic disease of the central nervous system affecting the brain and spinal cord. One new case of MS is diagnosed every hour. It comes and goes unpredictably, leaving people to wonder, "Will I become paralyzed, blind or having trouble walking? Will I be able to raise my family and continue my career?
THE TEAM: The 2002 Team Crestview consisted of 14 Austin women (mostly lesbian) ranging from age 30-50 and with biking enthusiasm from moderate to over-achiever. As a team we had a ball and raised over $4,000 for MS research. We ranked 14th in overall fundraising in 2002. Our 2003 plan is to double both participants and fundraising. Team Crestview has scheduled training rides to get ready for the event and has lots of ideas and suggestions on how to raise pledges. We welcome any women that like to ride and have fun to join us! Not interested in riding? There is room on the team for support staff and corporate sponsorship.
If you would like to participate in this fun, challenging and rewarding event, then register yourself as part of the Award Winning Team Crestview. For more information, contact team captain Julie Nelson at "julienelson@austin.rr.com",
