Coming soon!
I was in the middle of writing them, and I have to jet. It's a lot more stuff than I had anticipated writing. I'll finish in a couple hours.

Welcome to the weekly update!
For those of you who couldn't make it to yesterday's meeting or are new to the team, here's a summary of what was discussed. This is loaded with information; future updates are not likely to be this long.
As of 9-15, our meetings are going to be held every Monday at Pedal Power on E. Hopkins and N. LBJ (Near the Square).
We started off with brief introductions. Andy Pace (apace626) is the Club President, Joe Walker (joelactose) is the VP and Matt Vogensen (mvogensen) is our in-house 'coach’ ( I’m just Hector). Looks like we have a lot more people interestred in road riding than we have in the past -- That's good! In the past, our team has had mostly Mountain bikers. We have a couple riders that will be in 'A' category (expert), 'B' and 'C' should be well filled this year (this goes for MTB and Road). There is a strong group of new women that will be joining our returning “veterans” to give the team the essential boost needed to compete with the bigger schools.
Party at UCAMP this weekend. Look at the thread for more info http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17204
RACE- 9/20 in Comfort. Look at the thread for more info http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16459
****If you plan on racing, make sure you tell Andy (apace626) or Joe (joelactose). We need a headcount so we can get enough money to cover the cost.
****If you plan on racing, bring a copy of your studen ID and personal insurance card. These are required by the School in order for you to participate in these events. If you do not have insurance, you can buy some through the school for $388 for the fall semester. Go to http://www.healthcenter.swt.edu/ for more info.
****If you plan on racing, you must pay $35 club dues for the semester. This will cover your race entry fees, transportation (if you travel with the team) and lodging (hotel or campsite). IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT! NORBA races will cost you $30 just for the entry fees. Add the required NORBA licence, gas, hotel.... you get the picture. Racing with us is cheap! If we plan ahead, we can make it to all of the events comfortably.
Jerseys will be ordered soon (start thinking about getting money now). At next week's meeting, we will finalize the jersey design and figure out what size everybody needs. Jerseys will cost in the neighborhood of $50-60 (someone correct me if I'm wrong). If everyone buys a Jersey, we should be able to make the minimum order of 24. Alumni: please contact Andy (apace626) if you would like to order a Jersey.
We have two main design ideas for a T-shirt to be printed soon, also. A group decision needs to be made so we can get those ordered. Joe is going to look into getting stickers made for us. We haven't discussed a sticker design, but maybe we can just make it like the t-shirt.
Joey is our new (and only) sponorship guru and has already set up some stuff with Clif Bar (and I forgot who else) and has made contact with others. If you have any cycling-type credentials, please forward them to Joey (orangeallover) so he can create a working “resume” for the team in efforts to sell us to companies. No accomplishment is too small. Send him what you’ve done so we can build up our marketability. Okay, if you just learned how to bunny-hop over a stick, you can leave that off ;) . If you have any sponsorship ideas, feel free to send them to Joey or just post them on this forum.
Our local bikeshop, Pedal Power Bicycles has offered us great support. If you are racing, James will hook you up with free maintenance to get your bike race-ready. Also, he just got a bunch of ’04 Specialized bikes in, check em out and if you’re serious about buying, he may be able to cut you a deal.
***Rides: Meet at pedal Power @5:00 PM on Wednesday to go to Canyon Park (MTB Ride) This will be a good place for all skill levels to go. This is also where we will be hosting a race in November. We will be helping the New Braunfels, and other Mojos, to finish the trail which they have been working hard on all summer. Stay tuned for trailwork details.
***Meet at pedal Power @5:00 PM on Thursday to go Gruene Hall (Road Ride) This ride will be with soem local riders from New Braunfels. Speeds will be medium (if we go), fast, and crazy fast.
Trailwork will be needed at Canyon Park and at UCAMP. Our first priority is to help finish out the loop at canyon Park so we can race there in November. There is a lot of work to be done at UCAMP, and will likely be discussed in more detail this weekend.
I surely left something out, so please chime in if you like. Personally, I must say that I’m very excited about the upcoming semester. There are a lot of new faces and a lot of returning members.
Let’s get this thing rollin’!

At the sports club meeting for the various pursuits and teams, a nice young lady made a short announcement on free tests/training sessions/classes/etc offered through the university. Anyone ever had a Vo2 test taken (max. amt. of oxygen your body can use)? I bet they have studies or some route for us to get these done. I believe "badass" is 70-80 while normal is 40-50 in score. Don't take me to the bank on that though. Anyone interested if we could get these? At UT the only way I know of is for students or anyone to volunteer to be guinea pigs for Dr. Ivy experiments, etc.

I think for a small fee you can get all that done in the health center. Last semester I wanted to do it, but never got around to it. Now that i'm trying to get in better shape i would love to do it now and then like half year from now to measure how much ive improved. Let me know if you find anymore details.

David,
I am going to try to hunt down the lady in the sports department and see if we can score us some tests for the team. Yeah, I think it'd be cool too to see the improvement over a half or year's time.

A resting metabolic rate test would be cool to have done as well.

I spoke to the lady last year, and it was like $50 for some basic tests, and an additional $25 for lactate threshold. After that, future testing is given at a discounted rate - I think $40 for the whole shabang. I forgot exaclty which tests they were, and I erased the email. She was in the Physical education dept. Dr. Herbert, I believe.
If there was an announcement about it being done for free, I think we should definitely pursue that. I wanted to get the testing done last year, but I ended up spending all my extra money on bike goodies. :D

Schwinn Homey,
Groovy! I know Powerhouse Gym charges around 100 bucks for VO2 max and some other tests, but my teammates last year got them free as a prime at a race.

I contacted some guy last semester about doing that, he got back to me once, but nothing ever came of it. He said he would call me in for some power testing (max output and other goodies), but no dice. Maybe Joey can put in a good word for us
