Just wondering if any one else is heading up to Huntsville for the race this weekend? And how do peeps rate the course up there?

there should be a great turn out for the Huntsville race. It is usually one of the better attended TMBRA races, drawing lots of folks from Houston.

It's a great course, roots, sand, not alot of climbing, some twisty sections. No rocks. It's been dubbed a "roadie" course, because it's fast and not as technically challenging as some other courses.

Come out and race!

Sounds like a good intro to racing over here. Do most people camp up there before the race? 'Cos I thought I'd drive up on the day, get there for 7am and do a pratice lap before the race at 9.

Sounds like this might be your 1st race. Yes people camp. It's a great state park.

The sport class riders start at 9am. I would think if this is your first race that you would start in beginner, which I believe starts at 1 or 1:30.

I would NOT recommend doing a pre-ride lap the same day of the race. Go up and ride on Saturday if you can. Also, a pre-ride should be a slow lap to get a look at the course. Don't over exert yourself. You'll need that energy for the race.

Huntsville is an excellent place for a 1st race. Good luck and most importantly - have fun!!!

I'll be doing registration saturday at 11 and sunday starting at 7am. The course has some new sections, be sure and check it out before the race. I'll probably be riding a lap around 9am saturday morning. Look for me in a green Element.

Mel, do y'all need volunteers to help with the race?

I've already preregistered with BikeReg, but can I still buy a race license and all from the registration desk Sunday morning? And is it best to bring cash?

I see the weather is threating to turn wet at the end of the week. Does the race still go on regardless of the weather and how muddy can it get?

Yes, you can buy a license saturday or sunday and cash or check is okay. There's only a few spots that will get muddy, mostly it will help the sand.

Welcome to the Houston forum TBrown, finally things are picking up around here.

Huntsville was a blast, the weather and course perfect. TexMex's wife is one heck of a fast woman! It was my first sport race and I had fun, even thinking of doing Lake Bryan.

Yes my little Pammy kicked ass. I wish I had been there to watch her.
