whistler?
yes sir. It is a very beautiful drive from Vancuver to Whistler. That place kicks ass. I only got to spend half of a day there, but I will be back for sure. Evolution is the shop to go to while your there by the way. got me some Sombrio 04 pants/shorts while I was there.
Toonce - sombrio makes shorts like you are looking for or at least the pants/shorts combo. I don't know the exact measurements but they go about 3 inches past my knees before they unzip.

Sweet. You'll have to tell me about that place when we ride next.
I got my mom to hem a couple of pairs of cheap pants into long shorts. Really long. Some-people-would-call-them-pants long.
Welcome back.

so it's closed for winter then, right? not for good?
:) yeah for the winter. you know snowboarding and what not. All the shops had just changed out there inventory to snow gear. They had one run with "snow" on it.
stoped by the downhill zone in seattle to check out the local bike scene and asked about their trails that they had. I got dazed and confused by all the trails he told me about (north shore style, full on downhill stuff, chair lifts). I though it was alright around here, man was I wrong. Trail access in Texas sucks period unless you like panzie arse xc stuff. You even begin to talk about building a stunt around here and someone gets their panties in a bunch and cries about it. If people would just open up to the idea that there is another style of riding maybe there would be less.................................

we can't even get a 'skills area' at city park...let alone an entire trail system :(

that is exactly what I am talking about. The builders of legal trails around here have little intrest in adding any kind of stunt into the trail and don't seem to even want that kind of stuff. How many times have we shown intrest in going out there to build and spend our time in something we would ride but no one wants to push it forward. Give us an area and I am sure there wouldn't be a need to beg for labor like some o the other trail building that goes on around here. Texas is quick to take on technology but slow when it comes to attitudes towards anything progressive.

so maybe we should bypass the usual trail builders and start something up on our own? see if we can get permission for PARD to get something going at CP. i'm sure bjones would help us out...i wouldn't have any clue who to talk to.

i considered taking some wood and a bag of quickrete into CP one day....
that CP skillz area thread now makes me tired. Three months of nothing in that one thread alone, not to mention the project was supposed to be done in the Spring. Bulldozers are gone. Building to with stand the abuse of a moto is not in the best intrest of mountian bikers and all they want is trials stuff. The urban enviroment can offer way more that you could put out there for trials. Toonce had a good idea to get a meeting together - nothing. This area is set aside for motos and they will let us use it. Let the moto guys built it and just play on it when, if ever, its finished.

i think we should scope out other areas. much in the way TRU was built.

was at 9th earlier...pulled up, and immediately 2 cars pulled in behind me. whole swarm of 20"-ers. saw 2 other guys digging and manicuring...which is what the swarm of others did, as well. so i went and helped them out a little bit. names i caught were Chase (real small kid), Timmy, Mike, and Doug. quite a few other guys that i had seen there before. while i was there, they built up that second double that leads to the double that is right under the trees, the inner most line. anywho, yeah, they made that thing like a 1' taller, and 1.5' wider. it's huge. Chase picked up his bike and hit it spot on. that kid is insane.

Man, Inbred is talking about manicures and Scary is asking Toonces about his capri pants. I'm going back over to the XC forum where we just talk about shaving legs...

Best bet for a skills park would probably be to contact some private land owner, at least if you wanted it in the next 6 months. If you really want one at CP or something you will need to come up with a comprehensive plan, diagrams, costs, examples in other cities, etc..... You're dealing with a governmental beauracracy and nothing moves quickly.

I think he is pro. Deacon used to sponsor him with Specialized bikes, but now I think he's riding for someone else. Try google!

The City won't let anyone start work on a skills area at City Park until the construction is finished. From my understanding, they're going to "rope off" the area past the restrooms and shape the detention pond. The blueprints show he pond to be 3' deep in the middle. Recently, they installed posts in the ground in front of the bathroom to start the fencing off.
I know it's frustrating waiting for stuff to happen; believe me, I do. But they aren't ready yet.
When the extension I'm working on at Lake G-town gets completed, we're going to discuss putting in some more difficult trail, something like the old Forest Ridge.
If you want stuff right now, contact David Cordosa and propose having stuff built at Reimer's. :)

its pretty much like it always is... build stuff illegally and let it get plowed eventually...
TRU has some potential... but its hard to work with...
the bmx neighborhood track up north could be a lot of fun...
as far as ramps, totters etc all go... nobody in this town seems unpuss enough to let it go down... you have to move to BC or cali or nevada if you want bike parks and fun stuff:rolleyes:
