Who's got one and who is planning to race more this fall?
I know Dave K has a nice new steelie and I am just about to seal the deal on a nice steel ride. Know three more guys that ordered or are about to.
Now, who is gonna race some of the cool dates set in Dec/Jan this year? Always an MTB class so equipment is not an excuse.
Well??

I am beginning to get a little curious about this cyclocross thing too. We will see where my curiousity may lead.

this Redline (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3636695503&category=7298) on eBay is all about racing, and priced cheap. But I don't see much steel stuff out there except for a Bianchi or two but they're the wrong size. Of course they're already built up Shimano which cuts $500 or so off the price vs Campy.
There's a CX race almost every weekend, sometimes two now through January. So far, I'm planning on hitting these:
12/6 GCCA in Houston, near Allen Pkwy just west of downtown.
12/13 or 14 Fuji cross in Austin
12/21 Hunt, TX

Keep me posted Dave. I would like to do some more of these.

same here Dave, I know the course in Houston and it should be another goodie with some steep incline sections to ride up.
Now to just get a bike.....

I've just about narrowed my choices down to a 2004 lemond poprad or a ritchey built up with Campy stuff. lemond is cheaper (by about $500) but road bike is campy and would seem to be better to be consistent....??

The Poprad comes with Sora is the only thing I don't like about it, BUT I think they can get it for you as a frame set too. Seems like quality 853 to me.
Gunnar is economical and quality steel. RideAway carries that I think.
Ritchey SwissCross is very nice. Nathan Phillips used one at the Wurstcross. BikeHeaven might have it, or BikeWorld I know does.

I picked up a Jake The Snake for in town roading/commuting. It's a sweet bike. I did put flat bars, V-brakes and XTR shifters on it though as I could not get used to the drops that it came with.

I should add, about the Snake, that the wheels are machine built and WILL NOT STAY TRUE. WILL NOT STAY TRUE. Decent components though, Deore hubs and no-name Mavic rims, but machine built wheels suck. They WILL NOT STAY TRUE.
Take the wheels to a decent builder and have them properly retensioned and trued.
