way off topic here but . I have to HDs on my PC and I am trying to install Nero but it won't let me because it keeps finding the one on the old drive (it dying a slow death) It does not have a uninstall startup file in the old drive and I never set it up as a dual boot when I installed the new drive. Is there any way I can get it to boot from the D: (old) drive and uninstall it with windows add remove?

just delet the files in the Nero program folder, or better yet the whole folder, see if that works.

woops, forgot, if you want to boot from the D drive reset your BIOS to boot the D drive first, then change it back to boot to the C drive.

if the Old drive is dieing copy important stuff over to the new drive and unplug the old drive but leave it in your case then you can plug it in to get anything you need, if you keep it spinning and working it will die

Yup, what he said. Since it's from an old install in an old OS you don't have to sweat uninstalling it, just nuke the folder.

I don't have to worry about anything buried in the Registry or anything? That was my main concern.

nope

it should be fine

99.99 percent sure

BUt if you want to REALLY do it right you can get the nero clean tool

http://www.nero.com

click support

then utilities

then clean tool (on the right side of the page)
and use that bad boy

Then Reg clean it with there tool... i said Tool, hehehe

Deleting the folder should work, but if you REALLY want to be triple safe there it is.

If I understand correctly and Nero is floating around on your old hard drive and OS, then you don't have to worry about the Registry or anything like that.

nope you have a new Registry if you reinstalled widowz on the new drive, so no need to clean or do anything to the old Registry

even if you where just using your old drive deleting the folder won't harm anything, even with XP it will not break anything 99 percent of the time.

So delet the folder and if nero still will not install the run the cleaner.
