Anybody know what was going on out at Muleshoe on Saturday 4/13? Went riding out there and came upon a group of people who said they were improving parts of the trails, making them easier they said. Make Muleshoe easier? Why? They were taking some of the bigger rocks out of one of the few semi-technical climbs out there. I asked one of them if this was a Ridge Rider event to which he said no, it was a paydirt event. What I want to know is why would they make it easier? It wasn't that hard to begin with. Maybe I'm crazy but isn't part of the fun of mountain biking improving your riding and conquering those sections you couldn't do before? I didn't drive 45 miles out there for easy, if I wanted easy I'd go to town lake.

Comment?

Suggestions??

I knew there was a Paydirt event out there. I didn't know they'd be doing any major trail modifications. If anything, Muleshoe should be made more difficult, not easier.

What climb was being modified?

It was the last semi-technical climb out there, at about the 6 mile mark. Shortly after that they had dug up another little section for some reason.

I would love to know who made the suggestion and why. I take my wife there and she has to walk in 6 spots...no big deal. If any thing the sandy soft straight downhills need to have a little snake" soft switch back" . This will help hold all the sand a gravel. Next time you ride there notice that all the long STRAIT downhills are very soft and just the long STRAIT down hills or climbs. If these are not reworked they will get worse. It should be an easy fix. Let me know If I can help. DC

There was some concern about erosion on some of the climbs. I did not know that they actually intended to make anything easier. They may have been re-planting some of the rocks in the climb.
