for everyone who owns a racer x... would a small or medium size frame be best for a 5'8" 1/2 rider with a 32 inch inseam? titus puts me on a small based on my measurements, but im a bit hesitant. im from san antonio - no one has one down here, and no dealers. any info from any and all RX owners would be very helpful (anyone my height with a RX out there, what size are you riding?) thnx a lot.

For that big of a buying decision I'd road trip it up to Austin and check out Hammerhead bikes...he's one of the biggest sellers of Titus in the country I hear and everyone here seems to have nothing but praise for his service.

Here's how to find 'em (http://www.hammerheadbikes.com/info/contact.html)

From SA take IH-35 to Austin, exit on Hwy 183 (North)...then follow the website directions

Good advice. Charles is THE area authority on Titus bikes. Be sure to call first before heading up to see him, as he operates by appointment only. This works out well because you will have his undivided attention during the visit.:)

Charles at Hammerhead Bike is the man to talk to.

I just bought a medium sized Racer-X frame from a friend of mine. I'm about 5-11 or 6ft and it's real comfortable. The handling and responsiveness is great and it climbs really really well. It's not like I warrant a Racer-X, but the timing was right. I just put down (sniffsniff) a Schwinn Homegrown that I loved alot. The bushings in the sweetspot were getting loose again. Something that happens about once or twice a year with that design if you ride alot. And of course, the big "S" going out of business didn't help matters either.

So far I've ridden the Racer-X at Rocky Hill, Barton Creek GB, City Park, and Walnut Creek. It has preformed great at all of them. I was able to climb one set of ledges at City Park that I never was able to before. I think part of it was the bike, but part of it was following the guy infront of me and not really thinking about the ledges, I was just thinking about following him. Thanks Dewayne.

Sounds like J.C.'s got size issues only somebody experienced in setting up bikes can answer...looks like he's already sold on the Titus. had a friend buy a xsmall Ti bike a few years ago on bad advice and he almost never got rid of that thing. Plus he had to buy a SECOND frame in the right size. Hate to see somebody plunk down that much $$$ on something that don't fit.

One of these days I'll give FS a try. Until then, I'm convinced I can do every thing I need to on a steel HT. I keep hearing how an FS bike can make up for so many mistakes on the trail. I don't won't to forget what I already have learned!

after you turn onto Roxie Dr, the Business Park is down the road a little ways and on your right. i don't know, i got confused when i went looking for it, but i'm weird like that.

and the shop is super comfortable...not a lot of inventory, but really cool.

at 5 8.5" I would probably put you on the small with a 22.7" toptube

I really dislike using "small, medium, large" because one company's medium may be the same size as another's large..

go by toptube length
your height should be somewhere between a 22.5 and 23
and then if the designer did their job right you should have the needed standover (a bad way to judge a bike's fit is the old "standover" method, cockpit sizing (effective toptube length) is the right way)

and probably a 120 to 130 stem

I don't have a lot of bikes built up but there are enough in town I can get you on a bike to check out, also, bring your current bike. I will take measurements off of it, compare geometry and then discuss what you like and don't like about it and guide you in the process of making sure you get the RIGHT size frame
fit is everything
