If anyone wants to start thinking about a great way to get started with your beginner racing career, here it is:
Down in Kerrville (yeah, but it's a cool road trip!), next weekend on Sept. 5 (Sunday) there is a mountain bike race that is run by the Texas Mountian Bike Racing Association. That means it's well organized and fun to do. I went last year and the course is nothing if you have been riding around in cameron for a summer, or even if you get on the bike this week and get going. I and a couple others will drive down probably saturday afternoon, crawl around the course to feel it out, then camp that night at the park to save some money (camping is also fun.) We should be back to school around dinner time or sooner on Sunday. THIS IS A LOT OF FUN, even if you don't come out and waste all your competiton! It's really just a bunch of people who like to get together and ride a trail, buyt they get timed :) and yes there are prizes and awards, and a bunch of free stuff if given away too.
Think about it, and let me knwo if you might be interested! Just shoot me a PM here in Bike Mojo.
Everybody check the ride schedule!

hey all
i've been mtn. biking for about a year now (started when i came down here). i really got serious about it this summer and i usually ride nearly every other day if not consecutive days in a row. my rides usually go 2 to 2.5 hours depending whether i ride to cameron from my apartment or if i drive out there and just ride trails. can't really say what my experience level is, other than it's not beginner :D . really interested in joining the club because i love mtn biking and enjoy the company of others as passionate about it as me. the race sounds like a blast (even though i haven't had any racing or competition experience). more info appreciated and hope to get to know some of y'all soon.

thats the ticket. go here: www.tmbra.org and check out the info on the first race this fall, the Kerrville race. Then email me (look me up on the cycling team roster on the website.. i'm David Simon). I and at least one other are going down Saturday, leaving around noon and returning Sunday by about 5. (camping sat. night, big tent...) We're gonna do beginner, it won't kill you to start with a chilled out experience! I EVEN have a spare uniform you can wear, if you're around my size...
Just let us know man... be awesome to have you along.
EVERYONE ELSE, follow Josh's lead! Join the club! Ride your bike! Come on trips!
Reminder: ANYONE can come on the trip this weekend, if only to watch and support!!! Let me know!!!!
Dave
Just remember - butt on bike, helmet on head. Kerrville is the first place I saw someone asked to leave.

Did one of you guys call me? The wife accidentally erased the message. I haven't raced in years, but be glad to hook up with anybody for a ride. I do a pretty regular Tuesday night ride during the winter if anybody wants to give that a try.

Can you PM me your number??? I would like to ride sometime. :D
I actually would like to meet up with these folks for a road ride sometime. Not sure when I can though. I would encourage you to have some slicky tires on the cross bike so's you can join.

My tires are fine. You won't come up here to ride anyway.
Thought you gave up techincal riding. I may have rethought that.
My tires are fine. You won't come up here to ride anyway. Does that mean you will ride the road bike?
OK - no extra technical or fast technical. I'm a rocket on the road, so you will want slick tires.

OK - no extra technical or fast technical. I'll ride the BREW so you can keep up.
I'm a rocket on the road, so you will want slick tires. That's pretty funny since you have never ridden the road with me. :D
Sheesh, I ride the road, but would rather mountain bike while the trails are dry.
