Ok, so my new philosophy is this... when there are college rides on the same days as TXBRA mountain bike races, or USCF road races, I will be doing the college race. My reasons: we're in college; we need to represent to other schools; we can ride at these other organization races any time in life, but in college races for only a few years; and we'll meet more people because college kids talk to college kids.

So here's what's coming up:

Saturday, September 25 - SFA collegiate road race (http://www.scccycling.org/Race%20Announce/Fall04/StephenFAustinCyclingClubPresents.htm). (THIS WEEKEND!)

We'll be leaving after dinner Friday around 6; get into Nacogdoches rather late and check into one hotel room (cheap with more people), get up a little early so we can get a warm-up in, and ride the race! Return to Baylor by dinner time Saturday, OR stay Sunday for the criterium race (sprinting on a small course, several laps), which none of us who are going plan on doing, byut anyone is welcome to do so and represent!

A GREAT way to get started with road racing... race the beginner class, you'll be fine! Anyone can go, racing or not, to help support, for the road trip, etc. Please email David_Simon@baylor.edu by Thursday at midnight so I can fill you in.

Saturday and Sunday, October 2-3 City of Clifton/ BAYLOR BEARS collegiate races. (http://www.scccycling.org/Race%20Announce/Fall04/SCCCCBaylorBearsBikeBash.htm)
Yes, there is a NORBA mountain bike race that weekend in Huntsville, but I plan on sticking around to race the Clifton and Baylor collegiate races AND to help our own club run an awesome race!!!! Everyone should get in on this one... it's so close to home, and there's no better time to try out your first race.

OR if you want to volunteer, PLEASE let us know immediately! If you are a mountain biker without a road bike, this a great way to contribute to the club... plus it'll be fun!!! come support those of us who are racing!

So, pick between a sweet mountain bike race in Huntsville or stay back and race/ help out with the race we are hosting... we need to make a good impression. Email David_Simon@baylor.edu if you are interested in racing or volunteering to help.

So there you have it, it's getting busy and race season is here! Let's all get on the bike and ride! Check the ride forum to post and find rides... it's never too late to start getting ready, even if it's just a little.

Should only take a little over three hours. Made that trip a lot.

84 to 294 to 21 is the quickest way.

Don't go through Palestine.

Hwy 21 turns into Main St. Make a left turn on North Street(Bus Hwy 59). SFA will be a couple miles on the right.

Hope it dries out. Those bricks can be slick. :endo:

Hwy 84 merges w/hwy 79 about 20 miles after Fairfield. You'll cross a big bridge then the 294 turnoff is about .5 mile on the right. 294 makes a little jog in Elkhart. Make a right at the light and about a mile out of town you need to make a left turn back onto 294. The road gets really twisty for a little after the turn. 294 then ends into 21 in Alto. Make a left turn. Be careful in the little towns esp. Alto(speed limit 30).

So how did you all do?

Nac has got some pretty good size hills for Texas.
