View Full Version : Week 6, 9/27 - 10/3... BIG RACE WEEK!

Alright everyone, this is it... We are hosting our very own road race (http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/showthread.php?t=34218) and it's time to make our presence known in the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference.
If you are thinking of getting into racing, now is the time... get into the Mens C or Womens B class and have fun!
If you ride mountain or aren't interested in racing, this is still a great week to get involved either through riding on the slower club rides or helping with hosting the race. (http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/showthread.php?t=34218)
Check back here every day to see what the latest rides are... all you racers or potential racers, let's do this!

No KOW for me this week...
I will be heading out in my car (it's a 30 minute drive to our road race course) to go and do some laps on our very own race course...
I will leave from the 15-minute parkign spot area on the side of the SUB at 1:45 pm sharp... pace will be whatever, depending on eho comes out. I will be back to Baylor by 6 pm or sooner...
I have one space on my bike rack... lindsay, if youre available youve got it since we talked about it....... if she doesnt reply by wednesday, assume it's open!
Otherwise please bring your car and means to transport your bike... post up here if you have space open for others.
Everyone come out and get a feel for the course!
If you can't make it out at 3, definitely consider the King of Wednesday fast-paced race-finish ride that leaves from Bicycles Outback at 5:45 sharp... great experience for riding in a group and holding a fast pace.

I'm heading out this afternoon at 520 with Chelsea for the same loop, (I got class 3-5 today). It'll be slow, so if anyone else wants to join us, 5.20 at the fountain mall.
Dave, yep sure I'm up for testing the road race course. I had planned to be at the KOW to meet up with Holly if you're up for it also...I won't be making the whole ride, I'll end up getting dropped for sure at some stage, but just to get some speed pacing going and do some riding with Holly. I can always cancel it though and go next week... I'll also sort out transport to the race Sunday, chels also offered.

Hey guys. I went and rode a few laps around the course today. It should be a lot of fun. The climbs aren't to bad and the downhills are pretty quick. Dave I will definetely go with you guys on wens. to do it again.

On tuesday Grubbs and I will be heading out to the TT course to scope the scene. It is out in Crawford. We will leave from the circle on 5th street next to Hankamer High at 4 pm. We will do approximately 2 laps (26 miles) on the course and head home. ALSO, if you are not heading out to do the race course preview with David you should come ride KOW (king of wednesday) for some fast paced training. Lets keep the cow in the club (you'll understand what i mean when you show up). LASTLY, next week I will be back on my mountain bike, so get ready to go out and rip up C. Park next week!

Meet us at 6. If you don't feel good about the ride you can bail, but don't ever assume that about peeps. It's really just about the ride. I even like to session stuff like climbs and ledges so it's not a big deal to wait even.

I am sure some peeps will. Not me.

CARB-PACKING DINNER!!!!
If we get enough help with the registration, I will be hosting the thrid club pasta dinner, from 7:30 to 8:30 at The Place Apartments #708. Racers, this is a great way to get ready and to discuss stuff if it's your first race ever. NON-RACERS ARE WELCOME TOO!!!! Especially all you race volunteers!!!
I will post whether or not this dinner will be for sure by midnight tonight (99% sure it will happen...) .... If you are interested in coming, PLEASE email me asap so I can get the necessary supplies... go ahead and let me know now, even before I post confirmation... that way I can also see general interest....
WELL, the 1% came through- no carb-load dinner... one person replied, plus I have to do registration now... so find a place to load those carbs, and I'll see you out there this weekend!
