I was out there Sat and tried to find the trail from Dukes to Overlook to no avail. First, we ended up in the BMX park and rode under the cool overhanding rocks until the trail petered out. Then we came back and found the little bridge and followed the concrete path until we came upon another bridge that was under construction. We took some of the trails that lead off the path but ended up first in a golf course then someone's yard. We ended up road riding to Overlook and then rode out past Hogg to Tejas I think, before taking the road all the way back. So where did I go wrong?
BTW - you guys did a GREAT job with these trails. Congrats

hm, i haven't seen the bmx park. where exactly is it?
hehehe! you have to get a little wet (ankle deep) to make it from dukes to overlook. actually, ride from dukes towards rivery park. follow paved trail to bridge, should be done by now. jump over the unfinished part and follow path all the way to the golf course. this road is country club road. ride on the road with the golf club to your 6 and make the first right. make an immediate right again and follow it till it T's. turn right then left. the paved trail is there again. cross through river (bout ankle deep) and follow path/paved trail till you get behind the damn. follow trail going up towards damn, then down to parking area. voila, overlook.

The bridge was very much not done on Saturday - the culverts were in, but they did not look load-bearing, and whatever they had pumped around the base looked like it would be bad news to walk through.
What do you mean: "ride on the road with the golf club to your 6 and..." that left or right?
The BMX park is on the same side of the river as Duke's just on the other side of the highway. Follow the gravel fireroad uphill and you will see a trailhead that drops down to the left. Its NASTY stuff, and looks well maintained. You can follow a path that leads under these really cool limestone overhangs for about a half mile I guess. Eventually there is a bunch of brush blocking it, but you can work around until it seems to run straight uphill into someone's yard.

when you come out on the paved path going over the river, the country club will be on your left and country club dr will be on your right. follow the path onto the road turning right, the cournty club will be to your back (6). once your riding on the road, bout 1/2 mile, take the first road to your right.

I've been screwing around with MapPoint trying to figure out your directions, and I aint all that smaht. I am getting hung up on that first right heading away from the golf course - as best I can tell the dam is to the left. Do you cross the bridge on country club road? Do you know the names of any of the other roads? I'd post a pic of what I think you are saying, but I cant post pics. I'd come and ride with you guys, but I'm off to Bandera for the weekend tomorrow. Alas.

Holy Gun n roses! What a funny night. Of course the highlight of the evening was when Frank and Sean/Shawn/shaun *sp got up to sing a little GNR. It all started with Frank and the store manager, Doug then Sean/Shawn/Shaun *sp couldn't stand for the lack of a good Axel falsetto, so he goes up and gets the job done.
Later, two attempts were made to sing Eminem songs with Doug taking lead flour bag and tweedle dee and tweedle spic filling the "crew" part.
You guys crack me up! :ha:
