Bikers,
Stage 1 of the Rainy Season Series starts this Sunday!
If you havent already, please sign up at Hornet Sporting Goods or MTB Outfitters bike shop.
DATE / TIME:
Sunday Sept 4th / 630am Show & 730am Go!
MEETING AREA:
We will meet at the Piti Veterans Cemetery front area just off Marine Corps Drive. We can park near the Piti Middle school and along the road next to the cemetery. I should have the little blue pop-up canopy set up. Race numbers will be issued that morning.
RACE ROUTE:
We start the race across the school. The route goes straight up Nimitz Hill and turns RIGHT to Mt. Tenjo Road. Its the first right turn when we reach the top. The NEXT right turn would be the Navy housing area. Once on Mt Tenjo road, we will proceed all the way up until the pavement ends. At that point, the last two homes will be seen. We will then continue upwards and to the left on the coral dirt road. The race will finish just underneath the antennas. Not sure of the distance, but its about an 1000 foot climb! The winner can do it in 18 - 19 minutes, us normal dudes/dudettes will take between 23 - 45 minutes. And some will take longer..... We will have a lead car.
MT. BIKE SET UP RECOMMENDATIONS:
Folks can use slicks (bald tires), however the last section will be muddy and rocky!!!!! So you may opt for a semi-slick. Leave your nice white socks at home!!
REFRESHMENTS:
At the end of the race, there will be cold water and some drinks.
After the race is completed, we all will ride down to our cars!
