Hi, this is Paula and I would like to encourage beginners to come out for the Thursday night ride. I've just been riding just a year, so far and am willing to share all the cycling 'how to' I have learned. The Sunday ride is great too. It's forming up into as many as 3 skill levels...I could sure use some company bringing up the rear!

See you Thursday!
Paula

see ya'll I guess. I got to Lion's Park about 645 PM tonight thinking the ride was at 7. Of course the lot was full and everyone gone since the ride is at 6. Oh well--I have a job that wont afford me the opportunity to make it back to Temple to ride by 6. It stays light til what-- 845 now--oh well--dont really wanna ride by myself.

on another note tomorrow I will receive a job offer only extended to 15 MBA applicants nationwide (out of usually 400+ received every year). I received a heads up today. With Dept of Labor job in D.C. What to do? What to do?

Good luck in the job offer. I limit my solo rides during the week to about a hour. Try not to venture too far due to the crazy a$$ drivers in the Killeen area.

I could ride a little later on Tuesdays, Pete.

The Tuesday ride is going at 5:30 I believe and the Thursday ride will end, if it's still going, when the time changes.

PM me your email, or email me at bellcountybikeclub at gmail.com and I'll add you to the list. I haven't been making the rides, so I will have to verify the times and let you know.

So on Sunday ride at Bell Co Expo.....where do you meet up at? And is this a mixed, male and female group, or just guys?

loco
08-16-2007, 09:43 PM
It is male and female. The typical meet up is at the northeast corner of the Expo lot. If the Expo is crowded, the meeting place is the Quix at I35 and Loop 121.

We have been riding from Lion's Pool at 9 on Sundays to beat the heat. That pace can be around 18 or so, if you do that. If not, email bellcountybikeclub at gmail.com and we can work to get you a more suitable ride.

WHat is a "no drop ride?"

WHat is a "no drop ride?"

the slowest cyclist on the ride will not be left behind.

in other words someone will hang back and ride with the slowest or the group will wait up at certain spots along the route before continuuing---or some similar variation.

can anyone just show up and ride with the group.

ArmySlowRdr
10-28-2007, 08:57 PM
that is correct. it is not a formal club with bylaws and dues.

edit--but, and I think this is as with most all groups, you need to have a sound bike, helmet, and some sort of filled hydration device (bottle or other). It wouldn't hurt to carry a spare tube and a mini pump either. Just saying because I have no idea your level of experience.

Thanks man appreciate it, and is the schedule at the top still correct.

not sure about that--I occasionally hit up the Sunday 1:30 PM ride that leaves from at or near the Expo Center. best bet is to ask whomever is running the email list now: bellcountybikeclub@gmail.com

What news, Pete??? I saw your first ever email to Bud the other day. If there is a standing scheduled ride, send it and they will post it. If there is just a ride call, just like you did, send the link to Mojo. The reason that mountain biking gets little love is that there are very few mountain bikers. The way to change that is to bring more mountain bike guys to the BCBC.

Is the Temple store open today? I have a warped rotor that needs some love--if possible.

That's ok; it's much too late today to ride anyway---maybe this evening if I get motivated. I think I'll just head to the garage, throw it in the stand and try and tweak it myself.

anyone riding today? if you can take the heat, it seems like a nice day. I'm most interested in checking out dana peak if someone wants to show me around.

I could do a road ride too, if there's a group going soon. I just want to get out today!

Are the rides rain or shine? Look like some crazy storms coming this way, and I was planning on joining the lions park group.

Will anyone be there?

woo, nevermind. Anyone that's still going to ride is nutso.

I rode once in a driving rain storm with occasional thunder while in Oahu. Only 2 of us showed up for the Saturday morning Heavy Breathers ridw which usually goes from Waikeke Elementary to Waimanalo. We decided to ride to Kaneohe and give one of our riding buds heck for not showing up, then we made him give us a ride through the Pali tunnel back and down I-1 back to Diamondhead.

It was quite refreshing.

And fun to see the cars' drivers' reactions.

I guess you could say we were nutso.

It's not raining too much in Killeen, but the wind is howling. Looks like on radar things coul;d be a bit more in Temple and Wacko.

Here for a couple of days before i go back to Austin to pick up the rest of my stuff. I plan on being out there for the Thursday night ride. I'll be rolling a black and lightblue-tealish KHS. hopefully i don't get lost on the way to the meeting point.

I'll be there too this week. It's clearly marked to exit at Frank Mayborn Center when traveling north on I 35 through town.

I'm planning a quick 20-25 Sunday morning from Western Hills or the Mayborn Center. I'll be up early to check PMs or email if anyone wants to join.

I have to be on the road by 6:30 NLT 7:00 am, as I have to leave Temple by 10:00 am to catch a plane in Austin.

Any takers?:coolness:

Dude-bro... come out Sunday @ 1:30 at the Expo Center. It will be crazy hot, but it's a good ride.
Bring plenty of liquid.

Hey, is anyone up for early a.m. rides during the week? I was thinking 20-25 miles beginning around 6:30 weekday mornings. We can meet wherever. :coolness:
