What's the start time for this event?
'Rules' question: If say all three riders on a 3-person team ride a lap simultaneously, does that count as 1 lap or 3?
Thanks,
Ian

What's the start time for this event?
Good question, Ian. At BikeReg.com (http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?EventID=4574), they say the start time for all categories is 9 AM. But those aren't race categories. Ridenfool? Boomer?
If say all three riders on a 3-person team ride a lap simultaneously, does that count as 1 lap or 3?
I doubt it. Otherwise, a 5 person team could theoretically all ride simultaneously for eight hours and accumulate a gazillion laps.

Yeah, but the 5-person teams will only be 'competing' against other 5-person teams, so everyone has the same opportunity to accumulate a gazillion laps. Plus, given the semi-casual atmospere of this event, it might be cool to just ride with your buddies, wife, or whatever all day long, rather than relaying and never really seeing them. I'm anxious to hear what the organizers have to say.
So this will be 9:00am-5:00pm???

Here's an example:
A three person team starts together at 9:00 a.m. and everyone rides three laps.
Rider A
That would be a total of 9 laps for that team.
Each lap that each team member rides during the event counts toward the team total.
So, a gazillion laps is not out of the question!
Like hallin222 says, it is a fun event where team members can all ride together and just enjoy themselves while making laps. One member might decide to sit out a lap, that's cool too.
You can even ride laps with other friends on other teams and your laps count for your team.
Ride and have fun. Most of the prizes are to be raffled off anyway, so everyone has a chance to take home some schwagg. Even if they don't ride at all, they can purchase raffle tickets and win stuff.

I hit submit by accident while editing, here's the completed edit of this part.
Here's an example:
A three person team starts together at 9:00 a.m. and everyone rides three laps.
Rider A 3 laps
Rider B 3 laps
Rider C 3 laps
That would be a total of 9 laps for that team.

Everyone can start at 9:00, or any time after that if they prefer to. Just check in at the timing station before you leave and again when you return for each lap so each lap and elapsed time can be recorded.
If you don't start any of your laps 'till noon, that's okay too.
No riders allowed to begin laps after 5:00. So the last rider should be off the course by 6:30 or so.
This is planned as a really laid-back event that will be fun for everyone.

Crash is bringing all the pallets he can fit in his truck. I think he has more available if someone wants to carry them from Austin.
So, yup, a fire is in the plans. Bring stuff to burn.

Boomer told me that it will include Frontal, Bottle and a bail at the 9 on Longhorn, then pick up Lumberjack and Lizards to extend Miracle Mile. This should make between 11 and 12 miles.
He indicated that the weather was going to be the determining factor on which trails he would use up front.
If it's nice, I'm guessing Drop Zone, Gray's Way, MiniMe, to Switchback out, and Black Trac, Grind, Wall, and the usual route back.
After the Campground the route will come back up the road rather than behind the Excalibur site, across the bridge, and possibly over the teeter-totter if you want to, then to the scoring shed.
It it's sloppy, it might be Drop Zone, then Gray's Way to Fat Chuck's out, and Hard Boil or Switchback (optional), to MiniMe (avoiding the Grind and Wall) then the route back as described above.

Anyone have a trail conditions / weather report?
I'll be there no matter what, but I'm just trying to prepare my wallet for the hit it might take while trying to repair the damage done to the bike after riding for 8 hours in RHR mud.

Smuttville boy here, and all is good in RHR land and the land of Smithville. The last good rain we got was tuesday. last night all we got was some thunder and lighting and a few drops, in fact I had to water my outside plants this morning.
Im going to go run some of the trails late afternoon and see if Boomer needs any help.
Hope to see you all out here.

I have no way out there and if I do make it out there I have to be back in Austin by 1pm.
Thanks Boomer, Ms Boomer, Skid and Crash. It was a great event and we thoroughly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the "race". The trails were in great shape and hope this helped to keep the place running a little longer.

With all those sponsors, there was more swag than raffle tickets.
Some rode longer than others,
many got hammered on free Shiner,
Everyone ate lots.
Adrian soloed most laps,
turned the fastest lap,
and his girlfriend won an award for finest bikini.

Thanks so much to everyone who supported our MayDay Event.
We really appreciate everyone patience with us yesterday as we worked through a few kinks involved in putting on our first ever event.
The support that everyone has shown helps us to keep the trails open for y'all, and we want on doing that.
We hope everyone had a fun time at the "no rulz event"!
Even Brad and his truck survived driving down, up and down Fat Chucks !! (there was beer involved)
Again, we can't say it enough, but we really appreciate everything that folks are doing to keep RHR rockin'!
Boomer, Skid and Crash:D :D :D
