Best regards,
The 2008 DNA Evolution Red Dirt Race Series begins on January 20th The 3 race series is a Mountain Biking event that takes place on some of Guam’s best mountain biking terrain.

DNA Evolution Red Dirt Series Race 1

Race 1 in the series takes place in the Channel 10 area atop Mt. Tenjo . The race takes place entirely on the dirt and includes some moderately technical riding. The Men’s division race is 5 laps and the Junior’s and Women’s division is 3 laps. Each lap takes between 7 to 12 minutes to complete, depending on skill level.

DNA Evolution Red Dirt Series Race 2

Race 2 in the series starts and finishes at Agueda Johnston Middle School in Ordot. The race course is a combination of road and trail riding. There are a few technical sections on the race course, where some riders may wish to dismount, but for the most part this is a not a technical race course. The course will take riders past the Ordot Dump and up the back side of the Nimitz Hill area, where riders will hit Route 6 on top of Nimitz Hill. The course stays on Route 6 until just past the Nimitz Hill Fire Station where riders will take a right turn down a power line trail that re-connects to the trail used to climb Nimitz Hill. Riders then proceed down the hill and finish at the Middle School. The race is a one lap event. The race will take between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on fitness and skill level.

DNA Evolution Red Dirt Series Race 3

Race 3 in the series takes place in the same area of Mt. Tenjo as Race 1. The race course is modified significantly from the first race. Race distances and technical level will be similar to Race 1.

Hafa Adai Cyclists,

Thanks to everyone that came out yesterday morning to participate in Stage 1 of the 2008 DNA Evolution Red Dirt Race Series. A total of 45 riders competed in the race held at the Channel 10 Mt. Tenjo course. Although short in duration, the race proved to be a great test as riders had to cope with some lengthy uphill sections and moderately technical terrain.

A special thanks to everyone that provided assistance to make the race a big success. Race results are now up on the GCF website at www.guamcycling.com We hope to have some pictures up on the site as well in the coming days.

The next race in the series will be held this coming Sunday (January 27). The race will start and end at the Agueda Johnston Middle School in Ordot. Show time is 6:30 am and Go time is 7:30 am. Course information and maps can be found at the GCF website. Volunteers will be marking the course on Saturday afternoon. Riders interested in taking a look at the race course are welcome to come out that afternoon. We will send out an e-mail with the meeting time for Saturday.
