SCCCC Finals. Not that any of you actually care.
Good times, overall. It was a great, long weekend of racing. Brandon, Michael, Josh, and I went. Josh provided great support, helping with pinnings, bottles, and random "That's what she said"s.
Road race, Saturday morning. 37.4 miles, relatively flat course. Couple of early flats, but none of them from Baylor luckily. Holdridge dropped both of his bottles on the course, and ended up getting thrown off the back with an MSU guy pretty close to the finish. Brandon and I ended up in the sprint finish, with Brandon taking 4th over me by a wheel (losing to third by less than half a wheel), and me taking 5th, after riding elbow-on-elbow with a UH guy (who would later win the crit).
Team time trial. Apparently Brandon did something to piss Gary of MSU off, cause this course had hills. Lots of them. Hills, heat, and a headwind all the way back in. We worked together pretty well, and only had two moments when people started to drop. It sucked, and we came in 15th or 16th overall, and 3rd in the Men's C category, behind A&M and UT.
Crit.
Cold (<50*), wet (it was raining gently most of the crit), and windy. Miserable crit conditions. Holdrige went down in the notorious Corner 4 a few laps in, and had to go get bandaged up. Brandon was doing well when the pulled him, thinking he was me (we had on identical rain jackets....however, he's about half a foot taller, and we were wearing different helmets and shorts...). My pack got pulled, but kept going since we couldn't hear the announcer. We eventually got off the course. Plenty of wrecks in the other categories, but nothing that caused too much bleeding.
Awards.
Complete with podium girls and pizza...we were supposed to go up to the podium for our 3rd place team TT finish, but thanks to a misreading, they put MSU up there. Figures.
Pictures are on facebook. Cookie Monster had a great time, and looks forward to dirt racing. And that's an end of an era.
