You'd think they were exceptionally stable... (http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/767683724.html)

Getting enough speed to not high-center on the ramp would be the challenge of the day.

No core samples for me but knock your self out.

Just make the ramp longer

Man I hate to be the party pooper but.....

After purchasing a nice Santana Tandem and doing a bunch of research on tandems I *WOULD NOT* ride a sub-par tandem for hardly any reason other than a novelty around the neighborhood cruzer with my wife/kids.

With a decent amount of weight on it and in hard braking, or any off road (and on-road) conditions a tandem goes through crazy types of loads and stress. They are also a BIG PIA to work on, repair, keep running etc... If your not fully committed to owning a tandem it will be a money pit and takes up a ton of space and that is hard to transport anywhere.

All that being said, if you are just wanting it as a fun novelty then enjoy. Tandems are crazy fun and bring a smile to everyones face.

So if I'm waiting for a True Fab Tandem I should give up now?

No not at all....gimme your 50% deposit and get on the wait list....a TF tandem would prolly only be about 3 yrs. :D

If thats the Davinci Independent drive crank set up then...."no thanks". After spending a few years riding a tandem I do not understand the use or need for indpendent drive.

I'll take one of these (http://www.ventanausa.com/frame_elconquistador.html) in a 29er flavor instead!

For those of you with kids, I'm really close to finding two small kids BMX bikes....hacking them up with my chop saw and then welding them together as a tandem for my kiddos. How cool would it be to be 7-8 yrs old and ride a tandem off road! :eyebrow::cool:

After having a stoker able to carry on a conversation when I can barely breathe, as we get to the top of a huge climb, I also say "no thanks"! Bad enough that she was hardly pedaling, I don't want her to be able to coast!
