If you haven't been lately, beware. The first long bridge over Alligator branch is partially broken down. We walked it, very slowly. Several other bridges are washed out with sections missing too. Not to mention what all that rain did to the trail itself! Ouch!

I have been lazy in reading. We are aware of the damage. I haven't been up in week or so. Is the yellow ribbon still on the Boardwolk bridge (the long bridge number 20)? The trail is damaged because there were so many people riding it even with 8" of water standing on the trails. We couldn't stop the runners and cyclists. We are talking of putting gates up on the trail entrances and working with the rangers to close them during rains so that we will have less work to do in January as it begins to dry up. The plan is to wait until Mid January. Once I am through with the Marathon on the 20th, it will be back to Huntsville to recover the buttery smooth sandy trails.

We have funds lined up for that bridge's repair as well as for two more bridges to be built. There will be messages when it is time to build and install. Stay tuned if you are interested in helping.

Thanks for the update, Mr. Trailman. I'm going up with a group next weekend.

I wish I could. MTB is at Ken's with no fork. (I need to put up Christmas decorations anyway on Sat) Bikelane is road riding Sunday. Come out and play????

This weekend Warda, next weekend Huntsville. You should have those decorations up and bike fixed by then.

We'll see. The fork was shipped to Rock Shox for work. I am at their mercy. Back to my roadie roots for now.

Thanks for the update Snoopy. Is there a sign at the trailhead advising unsuspecting out-of-towners of the broken bridge? (We could've missed it.) If not, that's probably an easy fix while you work with TPWD on the gate and rain closure plans. Happy trails - CW

I had asked in an earlier post. Is there still a fair amount of Yellow caution tape around the damaged bridge? (referred to as the boardwalk bridge that is approximately 300+ feet long with several turns)

Yes, the yellow tape is still there and I think a sign that says something like "proceed with caution".
