We eventually put a Shiver SC and a chaindog and a front brake on there. There are many Le Toys running Monster T's but after riding it locally, a shiver was a better choice. He'll just have to deal with 5" of travel on the DH trips this year. jh
a hardtail with a monster T?? why?
and is he running a profile imperial chainring (bmx) with no type of guide? :eyebrow:

i don't really understand what market segment the Shiver SC is supposed to appeal to, now that the DJs and Z1s seem to take care of the 5" crowd. same with the Dorado SC...not to mention that fork is $$$. maybe that's why Zoke isn't selling them in the States this year.

inverted forks are usually much smoother and have better action. Speaking from a motorcycle perspective.

This isnt the matrix. Whether you have my skills or the skillz of someone on the other end of the spectrum like Jeff, you're not going to ride a vertical wall.
Sweet ad. I like the sign on the door. Probably some random office building that they saw with Lenosky on the door and poached that stunt.

1) 2.4 WTBs won't fit in the 15.5 position.
2) BB feels really high/26" wheels feels weird
3) 32:16 feels pretty good on it.

I have my Tank at 36:16 right now. It's a tad stiff, but it gives me the speed I need in almost any situation I can think of. We did the bank-to-wall and it was fine there. I'm pretty sure I'm done doing long trails on this bike for now.

as of yesterday.. without. i was planning on taking a van on this trip but that's falling through so the truck it is.. and it would be too much of a pain in the butt. not to mention the possibility of breaking bones (more like a likelihood if arkansas was any indication) WAY the hell away from home.. probably not a good idea.

Lets go to Mexico! I want to ride through peoples houses...
r3y35
01-14-2005, 01:56 PM
actually, i think you could probably do that in anyone's house on the east side of austin or the south side of san antonio. :D
just makes me wonder though, they've done this 4 years in a row in protugal and now last year in mexico, why won't they pull anything like this off in america?

hey man, you ever put that motorcycle back together that you had spewed all over that part of your apt. that should be the dinning room?
for anyone that doesn't know, marshall has a hella bike shop running in his house, complete with work tables and what not. the only thing he doesn't have is a work stand. :D

LMAO, I don't have it finished yet. It's gettting a complete custom job from the ground up. I'm seriously pissing the neighbors off with my grinders and power tools. The bike will be a nitrous powered low-rider powder coated black chrome with a flat black engine and polished wheels. It's coming along nicely and nobody's even called the cops on me yet for noise or anything. I should have it done before summer.

yeah, that ride is real nice if you weigh 123 pounds or are a small woman...
funny, i was expecting to see road cranks and road derailleurs on there. that would shave another couple of pounds. maybe a ti rigid fork, those only weigh about a pound or a pound and a half.

07-22-2005, 01:50 AM
yes, 6 inch bike with the 06 36 van fork. specialized has changed a lot for next year, new big hit that looks way better, carbon hardtail, 2 new carbon fully's and no more monocoque style frames. we will have the full catalog tomorrow at work for all the 06 stuff. the new big hit might make a badass dh option since it is way cheaper than the demo 8,9 but still has 8 inches in the rear (just like you like it brian) :) :)

OK, as soon as you get it, look up the '06 SX Trail and tell me if it's gonna come with a Fox DHX Coil-over shock and if the travel has changed any from '05.

Yes, yes he did. Well, the flask holder anyway.
Well he didn't actually buy it. It was a gift. (http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/showthread.php?t=38424) But yes it did come from Aherne Cycles.
Joseph Aherne is very cool, and if you read the thread you will notice that he even logged on Mojo. $35 well spent IMHO.

Anybody see the Maverick featured in Velonews. Not exactly the first source for gravity racing, but apparently the 2 guys who are winning all the races are on this bike. Its got 6" in the back and 5 or 6 in the front, weighs 28lbs and climbs like nobody's business. Are NORBA and UCI Super D races that technical? Whats the deal?

The Rumble is a very good all-around frame. Had a buddy in Dallas that rode one as his only bike for a couple of years. Seemed to be a very versatile bike.
