View Full Version : new years day, ride around the city?
anybody have any detailed info on this ride? I know it occurs on New Years Day and it is an 80 loop around the city. but I would like to know where it starts from, what time it takes off, etc......
It's because no one replies here that you must go to the ARR site, huh. Will they never learn? If your looking for roadie stuff use this site!!!! I'm interested in a long ride new years day but the pace and distance ya'll are discussing over there is intimidating. I guess I can call my wife to pick me up when ya'll drop me.
G-
on the one hand, a longer ride like that with some climbing the pace is not likely to be quite as fast as we've been discussing.
on the flip side, its always good to ease into things slowly. the BSS ride around the city is a similar distance but will likely be a much larger group with many different paces. this may be a better ride since you can ease into a pace that is comfortable for you.
and then there is still the possibility that more people post up for this ride. this could create several paces.
Yep, that's what I was hoping for. I was able to keep a 19.3 mile average at the veloway Sunday for 8 laps but I felt like I was pushing it. I'll see what happens between now and tomorrow night.

This board has always been kinda dead - but with everyone sprouting TCR's it might start to pick up. Also, don't underestimate the impact riding in a group will have on your average speed - a good group that knows how to work together can greatly reduce the effort it takes to go fast.

Yep - that ride was brutal - the pace, wind and hills were more than I expected - beautiful day and great route, though. We'll have to do it again soon.
(Note to self - don't invite really fast guys to rides after drinking too much the night before)
I suspect ya'll had good winds to fight in the afternoon. OldS and I were doing good on the 70 mile city loop until we started heading south on Decker. That rough road and head wind were brutal. Great ride though. He was suprised with his shape when we were up riding with serious roadies. We lost them though when they took the 50 mile bail out. Figures no dedication.:D
How many riders did you have in the afternoon?
we started with about 8 and then finished the ride with 5. a friend of Kyles who happens to be a pro mtb racer came out and put a lick on us. it was a lot of fun though and we were able to hang with him for most of the ride. Of course, there were one or two places where he waited for us. Anyway, looking forward to the next one.
Kyle, we really should think about giving Josh a few bucks to kick our ass like that on a weekly basis. wonder if he would be interested.
