Hey Houston dudes/dudettes: Does Houston have a track to race track bikes? Like a velodrome or something? I think I remember seeing something about one, but cant recall if it's in Houston. Tanx!

We sure do! It's off of I10, west of Houston at Barker Cypress.

Eh, I'm likely never going to race the bike. I just want a street rig that'll go fast and far and stuff. Plus something disgustingly simple but still considered a working bike. Enter, track bike :)
So since Houston has this track, it has shops that are stocked with track parts, right? Anybody know what shops these would be?

Ah, I see. Well, as far as track riding goes, the shops in the area that I know of don't stock much. Really. I usually use Westside Bikes for parts, but I don't remember seeing them stock a lot of track parts (they're a bianchi dealer too). I'll swing in after my morning ride tomorrow and see what they've got. Also, Cycle spectrum sells KHS track bikes, but they're really thin when it comes to parts. With that said, you're best bets coming into town might be Northwest Cyclery off of Jones Rd & 290 (I rarely go out there, but they sponsor a big team and club, and one of the mechanics there is the shiznitz), or Bikesport in town (Wesheimer & Joanal I beleive). I can try and find the 411 on the shops that have a lot of track parts for you.

Cool. You rock dude. Still interested in the cranks? I might post pics soon. My little parts page is coming along. Slowly, but surely :)
