So I'm down at Nelo's earlier trying not to get drool ALL over this Colnago, and a guy (customer) starts going on about how there is no way Lance can win the TDF this year, for various reasons. I thought he is the hands down favorite, almost a sure thing in a world of none. Also that this yrs route fits his style and team perfectly.

The guy went onto say he didn't know who would win but it wouldn't be Lance, and he hoped it wouldn't be Ullrich. He said the team with the best dope will win.....

Opinions????

i nearly made the dire mistake of posting this on the ARR mojo, but with all the whining/bitchin' lately about road bikes over there, remembered to come over here with this.

Parker, you've come to the right place. You may have been lynched by a mtb mob for posting this over there.

Basically, that guy was smokin' something. Really there's no way to tell who'll be the strongest until after the first mountain stage. I wouldn't bet against lance for sure. It didn't seem like *anyone* was *anywhere* near as strong as he was in the mountains. We'll see...

yeah -- I'm with you about Lance. This yr should be exciting/interesting, espescially in the mntns, particularly Mt. Vonteaux. And Alp'd Huez, if its on the route for 03.

I just think hes' a total bad ass, and has a killer team all around him. I hope he can win this yr, and get 6 before he hangs up his lycra.

I get a kick out of the ARR board here lately with all the anti skinny stuff. Its funny, because its ok to post up movie reviews, drinking games, and cheecake recipes....but mention a road bike and get plastered.

hehehehe:p

I know jack about road racing, but I think Lance is the favorite to win until someone beats him. No one has even come close so far.

He's one of the best climbers in the world, one of the best time trialers in the world, one of the best trained cyclists in the world, has some of the strongest mental intensity of anyone, and has the support of one of the strongest teams. How could that not make him a favorite?

People probably would like to see him not have a chance to win, as it would make the race more interesting, but I think it's likely he'll win it again this year. I hope I'm right...

Parker I think you are reading into the ARR side a little tooo much. I ride with most of the anti-skinnies and it is all in fun. Even Sinners post was done to give us that have drifted to the dark side lately a hard time. Yes, there are some with issues but I can't see it being a mojo.

Go Lance! I can't see him loosing he's from Texas. It's not like he's a stinking Yankee or something.:D

Okay, just so no one gets upset with my last post. I am not a native Texan. I was born in Rome, Italy. So that was a joke.:D

So there's thIS Texan that goes to the Big city of Houston for some Bid'ness. While he's walking around downtown he looks up to discover a distaught man balancing on the edge of a building about to jump to his dealth.
The Texan yells up to the man, "Don't do it! Think of your Kids!"
To which the man replied, "I don't have any kids!".
So the Texan yells "Think of your Wife!".
To which the man replies, "She left me!"
So the Texan yells, "Think of the Alamo!"
The man yells back, "What's the Alamo?"
To which the Texan yells back,
"JUMP YA YANKEE SUMBITCH!"

I hope the New Jersey Yankees win the Superbowl this summer.
